OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Recommended Posts

Haven't posted updates in a while. I'm so happy with me, learning so much and actually using this gift to get me where I want to be. I RELY on all of you daily. I may not post here often but I read here daily; for tips, advice, and food suggestions. You guys are such great motivators and supporters, and to complete strangers. Just want you all to know you have been to me anyway.

My weight loss is going great. I have no complaints and it has exceeded my own expectations. I have good, great and bad days when it comes to eating. Some days I fall short of protein/water requirements. Some days I've grabbed a piece of chocolate and savored every melting second of it. Some days I've met all requirements and didn't grab the chocolate.

I refuse to live restricted by food boundaries, but I also refuse to fail at this amazing shot at getting my health back. So this is where my own choices and will power and learning to live better has taken a slightly different road than before. My road now is navigated by ME. Just that simple. I am responsible and I will be responsible, for ME.

My stats today:

HW 234

DOS 10-07-13 221

CW 187

That's almost averaging .5lb a DAY. WTH!?!?

So yeah you could say I'm kinda thankful!!

Welcome back! Now that you've replied to this thread, you should get automatic updates. If not, click the arrow at the thread level (not a reply to message) and subscribe to the OMG October 2013 thread and it will prompt you about notifications. This is where you specify if you get an email message, too. You would need to do this for each thread you want to get notifications. What I did when I first used the new app was to look for threads that I used before, mark them as read and subscribe. That way I could start from that day and not from the beginning again.

Just got back from my 3 month post op visit.. Labs were so-so.. Calcium, B1, B12 were all ok.. Iron was low, Vitamin D was low, and Protein were low.. Otherwise, the doc was very happy with me.. Down 48 pounds since surgery, I'd like to lose another 20 by my next 3 month visit..

Hope everyone is doing well..

The Name of the Protein Bars is : PURE Protein. The box was around $17.00 and it contains 36 bars. Each bar is 200 calories, has less than 2g of sugar, and 20grams of protein. It has a little more carbs than I would like, but when I feel like I just can't stomach another Protein Shake, these are GREAT. The box comes with the following 3 flavors: chocolate Deluxe, Chocolate Peanut Carmel, and Chocolate Peanut Butter.< /p>

Please can you send a pic of the wrapper. Don't think I can get these in Australia but would like to see in all health stores.

Have you tried Isopure Protein drinks? They are kind of like Gatorade. A 20 oz bottle has 40g of Protein.< /p>

.

Please can you send me a photo of a bottle so I can check out if it's avail in Australia.

Struggling with protein intake!

Hi, I am new to this forum. I had gastric bypass October 10, 2013. It was the best decision I have ever made concerning my weight. I am 67 years old and I have lost 50 ills so far, with 50 more to go! I was on 40 units of insulin daily and don't have to take any at all now. I have gone from 4 bp meds to only 1/2 pill for my bp. No cholesterol meds anymore either. I am so thrilled. I feel like I have a new lease on life.

Here is a picture of the box that it comes in. Sorry for the poor quality, my phone camera is broke and half of every picture comes out blurry.

So, I had my 3 month f/u. First time I have seen the surgeon since my 2wk appt. He never showed for my 6wk.

anyway, Down 74 from my highest at my first appt with him and feeling good about that. But.. I cant seem to shake that I should be able to eat more than 2oz unless its yogurt or oatmeal. Most of the time whatever i eat as a meal hurts after about 30 sec from the first bite. He says hes not concerned so i shouldnt be. I cant eat meat unless its gr.beef or really moist beef or pork. NO chicken or turkey or eggs still except unbreaded chick fil a nuggets ( 2 whole nuggets). Just getting frustrated at the not being able to eat things. most veggies hurt.

Sorry just an update and mostly rant.. How are the rest of you faring with food?

Hi all.....I think I let myself get too comfortable with food. I stopped keeping track of anything, and ate whatever I wanted just in small amounts.

Pfft bad idea.

Not only did my weight loss stop- but I feel awful! My pouch hurts all the time, I am tired (lack of Protein I think....), and just feel 'yucky' all the time.

I really need to embrace this lifestyle change thing....it IS a lifestyle change....not just a short term diet.

Anyway, drinking my Isopure Protein today, ate my greek yogurt for b-fast and a salad for lunch. Back on the wagon.

Happy day everyone!!

I had my surgery oct. 21st and have had a pretty easy go of it except for the learning curve of what my pouch will and won't like. I've learned that frozen vegetables are definitely not my friend, and I should avoid all forms of string Beans. I haven't tried things on the naughty list like sweets or fried anything, I'm to stinking scared to, lol. I haven't really missed any of it though, so it's been pretty easy. The picture attached is me at my highest, in May at 285 and two weeks ago at 210. Both pics are in the same sweater. I'm currently at 205 and am happy with my loss so far, just not the Hair loss.< /p>

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
