November surgeries?

Recommended Posts

3 days out and I feel great! Figuring out what to eat has been a challenge. The sample menus don't look appetizing so I'm winging it but staying within my food list. How about everyone else?

I had surgery 11/6 I'm down 15#. Super happy about that

I do struggle to get all my fluids and Protein in

I am supposed to be full liquids until Thanksgiving but started the puréed stage a little early.

I'd love to keep in touch with people that had surgery around the same time as me

Since they changed the websites around. I want to reintroduce myself so that I can meet people are are going through the same thing as me. I am 28yrs old I just recently had surgery on 11/19. I had RNY. I just came home from the hospital and still on Clear Liquids. Doctora said I can add shakes in tomorrow. Would like to stay in touch with everyone since we are going through similar things.

Kat you're more then welcome to stay. I don't think any of us mind you had a sleve. Lol

So today my new tummy woke me with what sounded like an angry cat yelling. I didn't feel hungry but I guess I was. My hubby was very amused.

Yes Kat! Please stay :) The more the merrier. We RNY-ers don't discriminate!!

Thanks for the birthday wishes yesterday guys! And the get well wishes!! Surgery was almost 24 hours ago. They had me so drugged up that I slept my way through recovery (about 2 1/2 hrs) into my room upstairs and dozed on and off until about 7pm. I was so tired!! Got in one lap last night around the unit and since 5am this morning I have walked 1.5 miles! Started my Water Breakfast this morning - a little thirsty but certainly not hungry (that's a first!!!). Out of bed in the recliner, morphine is gone. Thank goodness because I was starting to get itchy!! Still a little dizzy but it has been improving.

I hope all of you are doing well on your journey!! Keep us updated!!

Feeling it today!!! I'm at a Stage 2 already which is good but my stomach is SO sore. It aches, it burns, it's tight - it's a little of everything. Had some pretty bad trapped gas up by my shoulders. I am struggling to get my liquids in because I feel so full as it is! I'm just praying that I get to take a shower tomorrow and go home!!! I'd love the comfort of my own bed and to see my little girl!!

it will get better, stage 2 is hard the first day but it gets better. im still really sore as well but the gas is moving its way out today. never in my life have i ever passed so much gas! im wondering at this point will it end?

im also having a hard time with fluids, im getting about 30 oz of Water a day right now and i feel so full as well. hopefully that swelling goes down soon. im focused on the protien shakes mixed with water for my 60 grams and my water intake atm. baby steps !

i was sent home on day 3 and i feel like i was ready. i did enjoy my own bed... until i realised i had to pee every 3 hours all night long and i had to jump out of it. im only 5 foot tall and my bed is elevated to say the least. so we found a stool for me to hobble up and down. feeling much better this evening and less sore every hour. my kids will be returning in the morning from their grandparents and i think i'll be ready to hug them without wincing. been huggin on hubby a lot and just enjoying the time he took off from work.

youll get there lindsj :D and i promise it gets better!

I feel like I'm having a mental breakdown in the hospital. It's hard when everyone has left for the night and all I have is me and my fluids. Makes me question why I ever did this to myself. I didn't think it would be this painful nor did I ever think I'd be sitting here having a mental breakdown over Crystal Light.

omg i thought i was the only one ! i DID have a breakdown on night 2. i cried uncontrollably for a half hour. i was in so much pain and the nurse was taking her time getting the meds and it was just more then i could handle. apparently it was shift change and the next nurse who was a young thing and was like wow what can i do? got me my meds and she gave me a big hug and let me cry, sometimes that is all we can do. you're not alone *HUG*

the gas - try walking it really does help, even standing helped me burp. and you may if youd like shout and curse at that crystal light for making you feel so bad!

Moxy we could be twins!! I cried a few hours ago for about a half hour uncontrollably. Like, sobbed into my crappy hospital tissues and hyperventilated kind of sobbed. Like you, I was already in a delicate state because of the pain (a Migraine AND trapped gas in one hour is not fun) and I just wanted my damn Dilaudid pill!! It helps with the pain a little but mostly I wanted it to help me sleep because I haven't been! I finally got my dose and nodded off for a bit. Now that they don't have to check my vitals every couple of hours tonight, I'm hoping I will be able to sleep more. I am a hardcore side sleeper (occasionally stomach) so that doubles to my mood.

I'm just glad to know I'm not alone! I keep thinking about how the people at my support group said chili seems to go down very well. And, it's the only thing I can think about food wise. Lol - everything else seems to turn my stomach. I hated chili for 20 years and now it's all I want. *sigh*

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
