November surgeries?

Recommended Posts

Congrats Linds' date=' what an awesome gift to yourself! Wishing you much success on your WL journey! Hey Madds, this is my 5th day of pre-op liquid diet...it does get better like others on here have said. I only get broths, sugar free Jello & Popsicles and of course Protein Shakes can be made with 1% milk 5-6 a day. They say to drink the first shake 30-60 minutes of waking up. I cannot add any fruit or have any caffeine. I know this is for the liver shrink so I am sticking to it, I just want everything to go smoothly. Lol! As we all do. Best of luck to you both. Yea! We are already in the month of our surgery! ❤11-11-13❤[/quote']

Do you have all your Vitamins too?

Saw the surgeon and pre-op nurse today. 11/19 is my surgery date. Was told that I have a large hiatal hernia. He is going to repair that at the same time as my bypass. Said it would add about an hour to the surgery. Think I am lucky because some Drs want that done as separate operation. I will be doing my own pre-op diet starting a week before surgery. I have lost weight and he is happy with my results. In the meantime, using My Fitness Pal, substituting one meal with Protein Shake and being very careful of diet. If I follow the guidelines now, it will make it easier later.

Thanks for the well wishes and congrats everyone. I woke up today and it was the first time I realized I have a date and am just waiting for surgery day! What an odd feeling!

I have heard Chapstick too for the hospital bag. Loose clothes, socks, maybe a laptop if you can get to the internet?

I have a question for all of you actually...I am starting to get stuff on my shopping list regarding Vitamins, Protein powders, etc. I'm having a difficult time finding a Calcium supplement that meets the surgeons requirements. It needs to preferably be a citrate not carbonate. Liquid or chewable, without any sugary stuff in it. What have you guys found out there? I am on a Flintstones Iron Chewable and will start Natures Valley B-12. Each time I look at these vitamins and powders, I get really overwhelmed. Anybody wanna share??

Rafe3 I too am having band to rny!!!! My surgery is Monday November 4th at 5am I also love the Unjury shakes but in addition to those there is a Protein Shake called Premier Protein that I buy at Sams Club. .it has 30 grams of protein 1 gram of sugar and taste even better than unjury it has no after taste!! Congratulations on your surgery and I know you are super excited like me to get rid of this band :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
