My surgeon won't do surgery on anyone that smokes. What kind of work do you do? Do you have any sick leave? I'm using accrued sick leave and I sure didn't ask my boss if it was okay...that's my personal decision.

I am in retail, an area manager, with multi units.

Been looking at statistics. Smokers have a way higher chance of having complications. Try to cut back. I only smoke 7 today, tomorrow my goal is 5, then 3, then none. It's tough. I know.

I think it all has to do with your insurance co requirements. I am having all the tests and even though I have a date, I still have to wait on the outcome. So far, so good. Only 4 hr stress test left to do.

Just found this thread :) I am scheduled Nov. 14th (still waiting for a surgery buddy ;) ) @ IU Health North in Carmel Indiana. I had a running calendar of all the dates on the other thread and, now that I've found this one, I've added you all to it too :) Please let me know if I missed you and your date :)

That really stinks that your boss isn't supportive. What he said to you was very rude and classless. If he tries to tell you to put it off again I would tell him to pound salt. Your health is important and if your boss can't see that then he is a very selfish man.

I had to quit my temp job, because They wont dont allow time off.

I got the call from the surgical nurse today. I go for my full day appointment on october 24th. If all goes well at that appointment then I could be scheduled for surgery on November 4th. The day before my 40th birthday. I said when I began this journey that I wanted it done before I was 40 and now that just may happen. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

So it's official. I have surgery on november4th at 11:30am. Excited and scared all at the same time.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
