Port Huron Lap Banders??

Recommended Posts

Just returned from Port Huron. They are sooooooooo great there!! I have my surgery date for April 10th!! Just have to have the bloodwork and the psych eval. Got all the other ducks in a row!!

Hubby has to wait for a pre-auth and they said that could take up to 14 weeks.. :( She said BCBS isn't good about approving those over 60 and hubby is 61. But there is always the appeal process and Sue, the nurse, said they have had good luck with a lawyer in Ca. who specializes in winning appeals. If all that fails then we will self pay. He HAS to get the surgery!!!!

congrats on the surgery date!!!! That's great! Sue is wonderful. She's one of my favorite people there besides Dr. Boutt!

Did you like Dr. Bhesania? I've met him once and didn't like him at all. Glad I got the doctor I did.

Good luck with Hubby's approval. I wish my hubby would get lapband. :(

I thought Dr. Bhesania was ok. Doesn't have the personality of Dr. Boutt, but he was fine. And he's darn good, so I'm pleased to have him as my doctor. And yes, Sue was awesome. So was everyone we met there. We were both very impressed. 25 more days til my surgery!!!!!

I was so thrilled that I didn't have to do the Protein Shake pre op diet. And no Protein Shakes afterwards either!! Yogurt I can handle.. Protein Drinks I can't!!

Hey Judy!

I should be working in the OR the day of your surgery!

I just started back to work after a 9 year mommy break and work on the surgical ward.

As a matter of fact, I just sat in on my first lapband today (unless you count my surgery on the 19th but I don't remember it! :)) It was absolutely amazing to watch. Dr. Bhesania was the surgeon and today is the first time I've meet him. He seemed pretty nice and loves Aerosmith in the OR! :)

Anyway, I hope you have a smooth time of it when you're there. I'll keep a look-out for you!

I think I saw you on the board for tomorrow. What time are you scheduled?

Are your initails CS (or maybe KS, depending how you spell it)?

Anyway, I'll be there!

Nope...initials would have been JC. They were running late yesterday and I waited from 8:30 -10:45.. I was done and in recovery by noon.

The wait was for 2 reasons: equipment trauma and a difficult case right before yours. We were behind all day in that room.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
