December Surgeries!?!?!?

Recommended Posts

Anyone else having trouble getting their medications down? Ugh! I cannot get them to stay down. I've got to take Gabapentin( powder out of a capsule) Celaxa(crushed tablet) liquid potassium, chewable Vitamin and omeprazole( beads from a capsule. Once I get a taste, it's comes right back up. Help!!!

Bleh, that's the worst. Talk to your doc...maybe there's some alternative. The only meds I'm taking now (1week post op) is the omeprazole and chewable vitamins, but I'm dreading taking others!

I am also on gabapentin and omeprazole also Prozac. I have found that mixing them in nectar pink grapefruit kinda masks the taste a little. But I am thankful I only have to do it 5 months and 4 days more. Lol

My dietitian suggests mixing crushed, bitter pills with vegetable juices. She suggests mixing Calcium based meds and supplements with dairy like milk, or yogurt or pudding. I tried these and have to say they're only just better than taking them without mixing them. The bitterness of Plavix can't be beat! YUCK!

Is anyone left on this side or has everyone on this thread made it over to the losers bench? I recently found out I'm having surgery on Monday 12/30 just wondering if any other Dec buds are still waiting.

I'm here! Having my sleeve on Monday too! I'm at the hospital doing my pre-reg right now.

Hi! I am here, too. My surgery is scheduled for New Year's Eve -- my last consultation with the surgeon is tomorrow morning. I am getting VERY nervous, but I am excited, too. I have been on the liquid diet (5 Protein shakes a day with broth and clear liquids) for two weeks. I can't believe I have made it through without cheating. I have learned a lot about myself in these last two weeks, to be sure. I thought I couldn't stand another Protein shake, but today I have to do the bowel prep (whoever named that crap GOLYTELY has a sick sense of humor) and can only have Clear liquids these last two days. I am starving! What I would give for a Protein Shake right about now!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
