Iron and Vitamin D deficiency

Recommended Posts

Hi! I have been struggling with Iron and Vitamin D deficiency since my RNY surgery on December 28, 2013. I have received one Iron infusion and high doses of oral VitD but my levels don't increase. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you over come the problem? I'm tired of feeling horrible and sick all the time.

Thanks!

I have the same issue, I always feel shitty and my doctor and I have tried a lot of different supplements and infusions, and I still feel crappy, and have low levels. :( My doctor hopes that as I get further along my body will regulate it's self.

I am brand new to this site, however I am years post op my surgery was in 2007 and currently I still have these same deficiencies (and many more). I take 6 times the adult dose of Iron and vit D it has never really helped me much. The fatigue is awful it feels like I wish I could do this over and skip the surgery all together.

I second this surgery was 2005 and I am still severely anemic plus the two mentioned and several more I currently take ferrous sulfate and pre natal plus Vitamins etc., problem is it is not near enough, mal absorptive issues plague bariatric patients . Give me back my strong body and diabetes, that I could deal with easily, this....NO!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
