For me, I think it was the 3rd week that I stalled the first time. I'm only 3 months out and have stalled a few times. A week at the most and then BAM, weight starts coming off again. Don't get discouraged, It'll come off.

I had my surgery on 5/15/13 and am down 66 pounds.

Good luck to you!!

I am so relieved to hear this is common. I am currently 7 weeks out and finally out of my stall. My first week I lost 11 pounds then I wouldn't lose anything for 5 or 6 days then boom I'd drop 5 pounds in a day then stall again.

I got really depressed because during my first stall I GAINED weight. I was beside myself. I mean how could it be possible that I gain two pounds when I'm not eating anything but freakin Popsicles?!? I was so frustrated and at my 3 week post op I fell apart when the doctor asked me what I thought of my weight loss. Once she calmed me down she explained that its totally normal. She said your body is still trying to figure out what happened and it thinks its starving because you went from eating gajillions of calories and lots of fat and sugar to eating maybe a couple hundred calories of low fat and no sugar.

The key for me was to stop weighing everyday. I weigh only on Wednesdays since my surgery was on a Wednesday. I took measurements and next week I will take them again to see how many inches I've lost at 2 months out. Don't beat yourself up. We are all here for you!

For the last two days my stomach hurts every time I take a drink of something....I'm fine eating...tho it's only pureed stuff...it's the liquid that seems to make it hurt...I take a drink' date=' it hurts for a minute and then stops...[/quote']

Omg. I have the same thing. Hurts so bad for a minute then goes away.

I was down this morning too. I think I might get my family to hide the scale. I am becoming obsessed with weighing. I should just stick to Fridays good or bad and then don't check again until the next Friday

I had my first stall around 3 weeks postop and it lasted for almost 2 weeks. 5 weeks postop now and just started dropping pounds again recently. It is very discouraging, but like others have said it doesn't last. So hang in there!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
