How many of you had to use lovenox after surgery. Mine just arrived in the mail to use after surgery and I am worrying about having to give myself shots. I cannot believe Thursday is my day :)) Feeling nervous...

I was scared to do it too. I had to do them for a week after surgery. But it really wasn't that bad- just don't think about it- I counted to three and just did it and it really didn't hurt! Ask the nurse before you leave to give you some tips to help at home! Good luck!!!

I also had to do them after my surgery. I got my husband to do them for me.

Did it 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after surgery. Really not painful maybe a tiny tiny sting at times. Don't rub the site after you give it to prevent bruising. It's just a minor speed bump on the road to a wonderful new life! Congrats on your date!!

I'm pre op and I was just wondering why you guys had to take lovenox? I'm just wondering if I am going to have to take it as well. I don't think I can give myself a shot. Lbvs

After major surgery you have a chance of developing a blood clot up to thirty days post op. you will have to do lovenox to thin your blood to help prevent the blood clots. It's really not bad- it's a small thin needle.

I was given a shot in the hospital before surgery and the next day. Didn't have to give myself any. I think some do if there is a chance they are prone to clots. They don't really hurt cause the needle is so small. They do kind of itch after its done but do not rub it! I had to go back in for an EGD 6 weeks post op and got a couple more lovenox injections that time and I rubbed one of them I guess. I have never seen a bruise that big before.

I had to give myself injections for 30 days after surgery, I even had an IVC Filter placed in before surgery, it was removed 30 days after surgery, due to the fact I had blood clot in my lungs this past December, I was considered high risk because of that. Giving yourself the injections not that bad, as long as you stick yourself in the fatty area, avoid muscle areas, it stings and leaves a mark if u stick in the muscle, you can do it...

The only reason I took so much lovenox was because of a clotting disorder. Wasn't fun but I'm grateful for my surgeon taking such measures to keep me from getting a clot. Honestly my biggest fear was throwing a clot and dying after surg. Not bad tho and worth the preventative measure.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
