I was wondering if anyone had their tubes tied at the same time as laparoscopic rny. My surgeon works with a gyn that is willing to do it but I'm worried about the recovery time after. I don't want to stay longer but I definitely don't want a second surgery. Thoughts?

Don't worry about the recovery cause tubiligations are done as out patient... After my first 24 hours of sleeping my anesthesia meds off I was totally fine. You should do it!

I had mine done at different times but my RNY was a tad bit more painful but actually it was that bad either.

I don't think recovery should be any worse.. When I had my tubes tied in 2001 they did it out patient and only made a tiny incision in my belly button... They put a band aid over it, Lol ! It hurt bad the first two or three days kinda like really bad cramps then I was fine. So if you had I done at the time of your RNY I don't think it would be any worse... Just make sure you are 100% certain you don't want anymore kids. I thought I didn't but I remarried and my husband has no kids and so I got my tubal reversed 3 years ago.

That's music to my ears! I have 4 beautiful, healthy children soo I'm not gonna be greedy. :-) I had 2 boys and then married my childless husband and had 2 girls. I'm in the early stages of getting approved for rny. I've gotten my md and psych referral. I have orientation on the 24th. I'm ready to reclaim my body and love the skin I'm in. Even if it sags a little lol. Thanks for the.feedback

Oh Em Gee... I love how you put it. I have 4kids too 21 down to 2years old. I've felt like all I've been doing be last 21 years is giving birth, nursing and being a house wife getting fat.

I'm so excited about my new body. I haven't weighed 165 lbs since elementary. I have about 10 lbs to be able to get into my 21 year olds size 7s. Me and my 10 year old share clothes... She's in a 10 (a little chuncky like her mommy was)

Wow! 21 to 2! Mine are 17 to 5. I've always been over weight too. My smallest weight was 155 but I starved myself and worked out excessively. It lasted about 2 years then I went back up. My biggest was 314 but I'm 294 now. I can't wait to have my surgery so I can be a.healthy 155. It's amazing how fast you lost your weight. If you don't mind me asking, did ypu end up with loose skin?

I also had my tubes tied in 2001 and reversed in 2010. Where did you get them reversed? We now have two more boys ages 2 1/2 and 1!!

Oh yeah... I got mine done in rio bravo Mexico by Dr. Perez. They did a fantastic job and even removed a chocolate cyst from my left ovary and removed an cauterized my endometriosis ! I got pregnant 6 months later and had a miscarriage at 8 weeks, then another miscarriage a year later and the 3rd 4 months after that. We quit trying after the last one because it was too painful emotionally

Aw man! I wish I had thought of this when I had mine! My PCP told me he could do it after but I never even thought to ask the surgeon.

Went to my orientation today and the doc says my recovery time will be the same. Soo I'm definitely getting fixed! Especially after he told us to use 2 types of birth control because you are really fertile after surgery.

Dang I wished I could have gotten mine done too. My surgery was done in a catholic hospital so they don't provide that service. I'm looking to get tied up before the end of the year though. I'm already maxed out with insurance so any more procedures are free.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
