July 2013 - Post Op Thread

Recommended Posts

I had my 2 week post-op appt yesterday. Everyone is pleased with my progress and weight loss (20 lbs.). NUT says I can now start "soft textured" and "moist" foods like chicken, turkey, fish, casseroles, corn or rice based cereals, fresh and frozen vegetables.

Looking forward to it!

Had my first post op visit today. I'm one month out. I've lost 28lbs in 31 days. Nut and Surgeon seemed very eased with progress. I was released to exercise and start puréed food list. I had tuna salad for lunch today. Even though it was only about four small bites it tastes like heaven but feels like i ate a side of beef! Hope I can keep it down. I'm so looking forward to kitting the pool again. We are heading to the lake tomorrow so I'm planning to swim the whole weekend :-)

He suffered 3heart attacks between July 4-6 followed by 4stents on the 8th of july , so thankful he is alive so now we journey together getting healthy.

I had surgery July 22. My daughters sixth birthday was this week and the cake is still here (that's hard) this weekend we have a family reunion that I helped plan so I have to go. What's really bad is most of my family is overweight and one of my cousins even tempted me with pepperoni off a pizza at my daughters birthday party. I said my head tells me to devour this pizza but I can't. She said why don't you take a piece pepperoni and hold in mouth just to get flavor. (She weighs over 400). I am eating egg drop Soup but that's about it. The drinks I liked before surgery now seem so thick and unbearable. Pray for me!

HW - 281 preop (rny) - 274 cw - 261

I agree! You don't realize how many food shows and commercials are there until all you can eat is Protein Shake and jell-o! lunch time at work is hard too, all the smells :) I am still preop, sorry for creeping in your thread, but I am looking for inspiration :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
