Surgery Dates for July

Well, here I am with my date for surgery and it's a lot further away than I had hoped but scheduled nonetheless. My date is July 3rd, 2013. I have my PreOp class on June 18th. They gave me two dates in June but both coincided with my sister's pregnancy dates (baby shower and birth) and since my mom will be taking care of both of us (in two different states) I waited on mine until July. It's not as quick as I had hoped but I'm glad it's scheduled and I'm on my way :-)

Blessings,

Chris

Wow this is really getting real! I pick up my optifast tomorrow and start the 2 week preop diet Tuesday. My emotions are all over the place.

Mitzie I start two weeks of shakes on Tuesday. Before we know it we will be on the losers bench!

I know!! I pick up my stuff Monday and start 15 day liquid diet on Wednesday. I've been counting down the days of real food and getting sad as they wither away. But I know once I start losing I will be much happier about it.

It will be a challenge but it's nice to know I'm not the only one going through it. The reward of good health and the feeling that I will be able to really start living will certainly help :). We will have to compare notes...

I'm glad to hear that everyone who has had their procedure is recovering well! Hang in there for those of you who are in their pre-op diet stage! You'll be on the other side of the surgery soon enough. I'm nervous and excited to start mine!

July 16 is my "surgical intervention"!!!!!!!

Hey! I'm still alive :-) I enjoying my mushroom soup and apple sauce :-) the surgery went well. The surgeon was very pleased. I may be released tomorrow. Xo

I had my surgery on Monday, July 1st, and came home on Wednesday, July 3rd. I'm doing OK, still in pain but being controlled by narcotics every 6 hours. Not too much gas pain except in my shoulder, which is killing me. I came home with my drain, and I hate it. I get to keep it until July 11 :( I think I would feel a whole lot better if I didn't have it, but nothing I can do about it. I'm doing well at giving myself twice daily injections of Lovenox for 10 days. Doing pretty well drinking these protein shakes, he wants me to have three 8 oz shakes per day plus 3 meals of 1/4 cup of strained soup or SF pudding. I can usually get about 6 oz. of each shake down. All I'm really doing is slowing walking around my house, and resting. I am exhausted most of the time, plus I swear they didn't let me sleep at all while hospitalized!! I appreciated that the staff was so focused on my care but damn I wanted to sleep more than 30-45 minutes at a time...haha!

This is so helpful! I am getting nervous about my hospital stay and what it's going to be like when I get home but that sounds like it's going to be what I have to do, I have to do the lovenox shots too and I'm really nervous about it!

I have to do the shots too and not sure if I have the courage. My daughter is going into her 4th year of nursing school so I think she will be drafted to do the deed.

Hi there I'm new, but my surgery date is July11th in Ontario Canada!! It's been 2 years to get this date, we have a very slow process!! But it's finally here!! :) I've been on Optifast for 1 week and 1 more to go!! I found the first 4 days very hard, now I'm ok, drinking a lot of water to keep full!! Love reading all the post :)
