Ok up until this point I have not really felt any emotions about my gastric surgery scheduled for May 28th!!!! With my liquid diet fast approaching the start (Monday) I'm freaking out!!!!! I'm worried about having the catheter taken out after I wake up, I'm worried about coming home with a jp tube, and I'm just nervous in general about everything!!! Am I making the right decision???? Can I go weeks without any food ????? Help is this normal???? I'm second guessing my decision!!!

I think it's normal. I'm scheduled may 30th and am on day 3 of pre op diet. I am really hating it. I'm dreaming about food! It's so very hard and I feel like crying right now. We just have to focus on the end result. We are worth this!

I am scheduled for Monday 5/20. Have been on pre-op diet for two weeks. Mine isn't that bad 3 Protein Shakes 2 boxed low calorie dinners and lots of Water Jello, celery, mushrooms, radishes and cucumbers. Tomorrow I do all liquid and take the nasty stuff to clean ya out. For some reason very calm and ready for this. What I hear you r not hungry so going without food should not be a problem. Remember why you r doing this in the first place. YOU WILL BE FINE. Take a deep breath and relax after the first day or two you will be ok. It does get easier.

I just had surgery on Thursday. And am a wimp when it comes to pain. The catheter was nothing to take out. There is something on the catheter tube about 6 inches from your groin. The nurse released this thing, the little balloon inside me(balloon hold it in) deflated, and she pulled it out. The Jp drain was annoying. It burned and hurt inside. I was begging them to take it out. When they took it out (Saturday), it hurt a little, but it was a strange sensation, only about 3 seconds. Now that drain site still hurts, that is the area where most of the work is done. But it is just sore, ice and heat help. Being only 4 days out I can tell you there have been many bad moments and melt downs. But please force yourself (when your pain meds are really working). To get out of bed and move. It will hurt and you probably will cry. The first time I wa crying and my whole body was shaking uncontrollably, but once u get moving, even just 3 doors down and back with a walker, you feel relief! By the second day I was walking more than in bed. My gas pain wasn't in my shoulder like most it was in my lower back. Today, I haven't taken pain meds yet and it is noon. What. I am trying to say is you can do this. It will be hard but it really does get better every day! Let me know if u have other questions.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
