So frustrated, ready to call it quits

Recommended Posts

I'm new to this forum. My surgery is scheduled for June 5, I really like my surgeon but his office staff is terrible. They never know where any of my stuff is, like my labs or EKG. They're rude, especially one woman in particular...she never listens to what I ask her, and she's hung up on me while I was talking before. The surgeon has a main office in San Antonio but they travel to like 8 other offices, I think that's why they're so disorganized. They want me to do my preop labs that I just did a few weeks ago, my tricare won't pay for the same tests less than a month later. I'm getting really frustrated and I almost don't even want to do this anymore. I quit smoking, I've done everything right, and I've hand delivered everything to their office so far (which is 2 hrs from where I live) HELP! I can't switch surgeons, my husband is getting out of the army and I have to have it done before my benefits are gone!!! Just needing some words of encouragement right now!!!!

I don't usually make complaints, cause I'm a medical assistant and I know how it works but, I just don't feel comfortable there anymore. I don't want to be a problem patient though :( I'm just afraid that their negligence and stupidity is going to affect my surgery!

I would have a very serios talk with the doctor. You should not be treated that way and his staff is paid to keep things organized so no excuses :) The doctor should address it, trust me if they are that bad your not the only patient with a issue.

My previous PCP I had the same issue. I spoke with the doc, then I kind of felt bad for the staff he started to crack the Whip. I was in a room waiting for a EKG and he came back, the test still was not done and the nurse was coming he just shook his head and said "good help is hard to find". I didn't see her anymore.

Sometimes the staff belong to the "office" maybe they have a office manager, but definately talk to the doctor.

This procedure is for you, your life, your family. Don't let that foolishness stop you... Get it done while you can before you loose the benefits!! Best Wishes :)

I keep a folder of copies of blood work, tests etc. I feared the office would lose it and delay my surgery.

I was totally proactive and probably pushy but i am a nurse and know how busy offices get but i am paying for it so they need to listen to you.

Hope this helps.

Dont give up its totally worth it!

I would definitely tell that doctor, as the staff that he has a ruining his business. He would appreciate you coming forward and telling him this because he does not want other patients to also feel out of place like you are.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
