Hey everyone! I live north of kc - in kearney, but just had my bypass one week ago today! I'm doing pretty good but kinda feeling a little isolated from friends and family- my whole social life really did revolve around food!! But just saw this thread and thought I would reach out. How is everyone doing?

Junction City/Manhattan area here. Had my GBS in another state but will follow up with The Bariatric Center of Kansas City, Dr. Stanley Hoehn to be more precise. Should be interesting.

ArmyOfMe you are in very good hands with Dr. Hoehn in fact all three doctors are fantastic. I actually see Dr. Brice Hamilton and who will be doing by bypass. I'm a Kansas girl and know Junction City/Manhattan area quite well. Born in Herington and actually raised in Ramona. Eventually married a man from Onaga. Welcome aboard RNYtalk this is a great source and a great group.

I will be having my surgery in aug.

samistains keep us posted how you are doing, even though I know a number of people who have had bypass around the KC area, don't have very many that post on the Kansas City forum. It won't be long before you are on the loser's bench.

Welcome aboard the RNYtalk forum, great place and very informative. Hope everything is going well for you. I'm trying to maintain my loss with the lapband as it got removed in May. I don't want to regain any just to have to take it off when I get bypass. That is to be announced, hopefully September. Shouldn't have much more to go through, one dietatian visit and a four hour course of the do's and don'ts, then submission to insurance. Know where Kearney is at, have been through the town a number of times. Keep us posted how you are doing, you on your way to a newer you.

Yes seems like everyone eats out when they get together. On a positive note life is much better and moving much easier. My heaviest was 357 sometime early this year, before surgery I was 348 and then after my diet I was 334. Now almost 2 months out I am 282. I have dropped somewhere around 75 pounds and counting. I put on a xl shirt yesterday and it made things real. Things get better and you will save a lot of money on food. :)

Hello Kansas City

Just returned home from seeing the psychologist, last visit with the dietatian, and actually spent time with the case manager. Scheduled for my pre-op class on the 22nd. Everything then will be submitted for insurance approval and then the surgery date. Glad this is coming to a close, as I'm so worried I will put on weight since my band has been removed. Been working my rear-end off not to do that, so far it has worked, but still scared that I will and I really don't want to go through having to take it back off. Hope everyone is doing well and not having any problems. I've noticed the weight loss that you have all posted. Congrats doesn't it feel good watching those pounds slipping away? Okay guys keeping posting it is always good to see what you all have accomplished.

Hello Kansas City........Update went to my "ins & outs, do's and don'ts" class today which now completed. Then talked with the case manager to see if there was anything else insurance will need. Nothing is needed and she stated she is submitting the information to insurance and should have an answer within the next two weeks. I asked if she thought I would have any issues with approval and she stated she didn't think so. I have had lapband, lost weight, been seeing the PCP and dietatian for the last three months and have actually lost weight during this time. So she sees no problems. So now just waiting. Then on to a surgery date, last scheduled visit with the doctor, lab work. Sorta anxious but will survive the wait. Hope all of you are doing well. Stay in touch KC.

Hello Kansas City friends! I live in Kansas City North, in the Zona Rosa area. I will be having my surgery at St. Luke's on the Plaza. Dr. Price will be my surgeon. I am still in the nutrition classes thru October. Glad I found this topic.

Welcome Tammy. Glad to see another Kansas Citian on board. Just had my insurance papers submitted last Thursday right after I finished my very last ("in's and out's, do's and don'ts class) it is the final class where the dietiatian, surgical nurse and physical therapist tells us what we can eat and when, nurse tells us what to expect, and physical therapist has more to do with excerise. Anyway decided to check on my insurance website to see if they had received it, which they have. It is still pending but the surgeon has to give them a date for surgery. It looks like they have scheduled me for 10/23/13 once approved. Wishing you the best of luck in becoming a new you. Keep posting.

Date change from the above message. The approval came through after just two business days and KC Bariatric called me @ 1 PM today and surgery is scheduled for 10:00 AM Sept 11. On to a healthier me. What a great day. Just have to give a BIG THANK YOU to my Case Manager for taking such good care of me and all her patients. A little over 10 weeks from removal of the lapband to RNY.

I used to live a mile from Zona Rosa. I now live 20 minutes west of the Legends area.

I will also be having surgery at Saint Lukes on the Plaza. I have my last class in Sept and then submitting to insurance.

I'm now stressing that I can have surgery before the end of the year! :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
