RNY + Umbilical Hernia Repair

Hey there :)

My surgeon told me that in addition to gbp she's also gonna repair the umbilical hernia that I apparently have. She assured me it wasn't anything too complex, "just one stitch". But apparently that one stitch is gonna cause me significantly more pain. In addition to the pain I'm already gonna experience from the gbp. Wonderful.

And to make matters worse, I'm psyching myself out. Again. I of course googled what an umbilical hernia repair entails, and I found all these stories about people that come back from umbilical hernia repair without belly buttons!! And needless to say, I would like to keep mine.

Anyone else have an umbilical hernia repair during their gbp? If so, do you still have a belly button (lol) ?
