I was very nervous. How are you doing? I am still pretty sore I think I over did it today. Rest and pain medicine will be my friend tonight.

It takes a bit to get used to. You have to increase your Protein and Water over the weeks. You won't reach the limits so soon. Follow your nutritionist guidelines as to what foods you can eat. Look at (theworldaccordingtoeggface) website fore food ideas. Hope this helps. I did two Protein shakes a day for a long time to get my protein in. Now I do one a day.

Portsmouth here... Having surgery at PRH next Friday!

How did your surgery go? I found the first few weeks very challenging figuring out how to get all the Water and Protein while feeling so full. I hope you have good news to report.

It went very well. The surgeon and the hospital were top notch. Surgery itself was smooth sailing. Recovery... at one week out now pain is pretty much gone, eleven more pounds are gone, and diabetes is gone! An awesome bonus. The program at PRH is really phenomenal... Getting Protein is is really easy, I found that using powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and mixing it with skim milk, makes an 8 oz shake that has 29 g of protein... 2 of those and the requirement is about met. I'll also usually have a nectar lemon tea... 23 more grams protein, and replaces a plain Water.< /p>

That is great! Congrats on the diabetes. I developed lactose intolerance a few weeks out and haven't had milk since. I drink unsweetened almond milk, 30 calories in a cup. When do you get to start soft foods? Get ready to start the roller coaster as the next six months will be amazing! I had my surgery in Dec. and people don't recognize me now, diabetes is gone also. Congrats!

Thanks! I see the NUT on Friday and will hopefully progress to the next stage from there. I certainly feel ready! I do like my shakes though. I have been having shakes for Breakfast for almost a year now, I will likely keep that up. I often make them with Almond milk! Good stuff!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
