Dec 5, 2012 I had the band removed and the bypass at the same time, also had an ovary, cyst, mass and a lot of scar tissue removed. I am so glad I was able to have both done at the same time.

I think it just depends on your doctor and the amount of damage done by the band. Hopefully you can have both at the same time.

Mine is scheduled for same day on March 21. I really hope they don't find too much damage and can get it done.

My doc had told me before hand there was a small chance he wouldn't be able to do the conversion but really expected it to be fine....I cannot tell you how broken hearted I was when I woke up and mom told me he'd had to delay the RNY....hopeless, I felt so hopeless. However, here I am 11 days post op from the RNY finally!!! I can't help but occasionally think where I'd be now if I was 6 months post-op....but he said with all the inflammation I had, he would have had to have made my pouches Bigger to get a safe staple line....I do not need a bigger pouch thank you very much!!!! :D so likely you'll all be fine and able to do it all in 1 surgery, but even if you can't, it's still worth it!!!

I mourned for 2weeks and gained 25 pounds in the 6 months between....still working to get that off! But I needed to do this for me! (Plus the holidays were a blast :D got to eat all the yummy terrible stuff one last time!!!). Honestly though, I felt SO much better just having that stupid band out of me....after I got over my 2 weeks of mourning I felt the bet I had in 3 years and just decided to enjoy myself til my 6 months was up....couldn't change what had happened so might as well moveon!

Yeah. My band has been completely unfilled for a month now and I have gained five pounds. That's why I have had to put myself on a pre op diet even though the surgeon said it's not necessary. It's a struggle when the band had kept you from eating real food for so long. I'm still tight even unfilled but can get food down now.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
