Recommended Posts

I am 11 days post op. I am still wondering if this is gonna work? Anyone else have that? I have PCOS and nothing ever worked. I really don't want to be disappointed with this. It's a huge change. I've list 10 lb total since surgery and I know that is great I was just hoping to be one of those 40 lb loss in the first month girls ya know.

I also have PCOS. I will be having surgery the 14th of march. Feel free to message me :)

Just curious... did the two of you (monken and danifoxpt) both have open surgery? I'm wondering what muscle would have to be cut and stitched' date=' and why it would cause so much pain for so long afterwards... I had some twinges in the first week or two, but it's all but disappeared. I'm sorry you are still struggling![/quote']

I had lap also. I can't figure out the exact cause of my pain yet. All I know is if they need to go back in I really want them to do it soon. I really want to stay on track with getting healthy. I am just SO scared of the pain all over again. I am SO excited for summer and I just want to feel good.

They have to go through muscle to do the procedure. It seems that some surgeons have different techniques my surgeon cuts a major abdominal muscle on left then stitches it back together. Muscles take longer to heal any where from 6 to 8 weeks some cases. So any bending or movement aggrevates. I aggravated the muscle because I bent down to much after surgery and made agonizing pain. That pain subsided finally because I made sure I didn't overdue. No the shift offs my upper stomach fat roll us really sensitive and painful like swollen still...I just want to be pain free and start back to zumba.

Oh, that makes sense. Do you know what muscle they had to cut? I'm seeing my surgeon for follow-up today and would like to ask him if he did that for me...

I hear ya. All I have is five little scars, from 1/2 inch to an inch, but one is taking forever to heal. They took the staples out like on Day 2 and replaced them with steri strips, but those started falling off the next day, and weren't even tight to begin with, so some of my scars are invisible already, and another has a huge scab on it, still!

But what I meant to say is that I'm just dying to carry my own groceries, laundry, just to get back to being active again!

My doctor used glue and it disintegrates from the inside out. so by the time the glue falls off on the outside my incisions are healed. I'm almost 2 weeks out and almost all of the glue is off.

I would have to Get my surgery report to tell you and I'm at work just ask him if he cut a major abdominal muscle on the left during the procedure. It wool be interesting of he/she tells you. I know of only two people on blog besides myself that had this and we were told after the fact do to pain.

Please be patient and know that the Dr has your health foremost in his mind. Re-routing intestines is a major procedure and bowel movements and the 1st and foremost sign that everything is working correctly. It is not an obsession by the nurse and Dr but a medical necessity. Please don't be embarassed by a normal bodily function. This being said, I hear that you really really just want to go home - don't rush the healing - this is just a temporary part of your journey and you will be in your house soon. It was 9 days post-op before I had a BM whooooo.....

I had this. I'm 2 weeks out and my left side pain in pretty unbearable unless I'm pushing on that 1 incision area. I have an ice pack strapped to my stomach to help with pain, since my pain mess barely did anything. I ordered an abdominal binder yesterday. Absolutely can't wait for that sucker to get here.

That should help quite a bit. In the meantime if you can get one of the control garments, like Spanx , in the biggest size you can find it will help. I swear when I look at the large size in those I think " there ain't no way ". I buy like a 4x and I'm normally a size 14. I've had a couple of open surgerys on my abdomen and this helped me.

Hi I am glad you are doing a little better....are you out of your chair yet? I have been in bed and they said a lot of the pain is nerve pain so they put me on nurontin....we will see how that goes. I just want to get back to walking....I'm tired of bed.

Make them check for ulcers..... I had that pain and they found 3 ulcers and in couldn't eat lots of pain....they did an Endoscopy and found 3 ulcers swollen around my pouch opening

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
