Fabulous February Post-Op's

Recommended Posts

I have no energy!!! I'm totally exhausted and barely dragging through the day. I keep satin today is the day I start going on a walk but by the time I get home from work and seeing 25 patients I'm exhausted and lucky to get my kiddo fed! I think I'm done with all the wild stuff and will be able to slow down and chill a bit for the next week.

Wow! When did you have surgery? I can't imagine seeing 25 patients soon after surgery. I'm planning to take 4 weeks off from work.

Feb. 11, I was off through the 19th, worked 1/2 days the 20, 21, and 22, then was back full time in the 25th. The first couple were a strain. I'm making it through the day okay now but by the end of the day I am whooped! It's only been 3 weeks, must remind myself it's only been 3 weeks :$

Good Monday evening' date=' all! We're digging out of a snowstorm here in Minnesota (well, not me, my kids are -- hooray for slave labor! JK :D)

To bring you all up to date, I lost a remarkable 15 pounds in my first week postop, then stalled for a whole week. It is very frustrating at this stage of the game to not see the scales move. But then, hurrah! I've been losing about a pound a day since. I've decided not to weigh myself daily, but to wait until Fridays, that way if there is some fluctuation due to Water retention or whatever, I don't get discouraged.

I'm noticing changes already. The skin on my upper arms (soon to be known as "batwings") is drooping more, and my belly is noticeably smaller (well, to me anyway). My skin is unbelievably dry (I moisturize daily and have cut back on showering to twice a week, washing my hair in the sink as needed), and I am beginning to see bone structure on my face and neck. It's exciting, and a little scary. I know it's just a matter of a month or so until I start seeing hair in the bathroom drain. :(

How are the rest of you doing? Are people beginning to notice? What changes have *you* noticed?[/quote']

Don't forget doing arm/tricep dips, wall push ups and other arm exercises to head off arm drooping..... Tighten and tones multiple times a week with ur own body weight or free weights!! :-)

Very carefully!!! I'm supposed to drink 16 oz of diluted fruit juice a day. Before I leave for work I mix 12 oz of apple juice with 12 oz of Water and a fuzzy navel Syntrax nectar. That's 24 oz of fluids and 23 or 24 grams of Protein, I fill it with ice and sip on it throughout the day, I estimate by the 3 or 4 times I refill with ice that I'm getting 30 ounces of Fluid from that plus I sip on a 16 ounce water bottler during the day....trying to work up to 2 bottles but haven't made it so far!! I have a set Breakfast, lunch, dinner time (give or take 30 minutes or so) and usually do a snack late morning (almost always a cheese stick cuz I can nibble and walk away). The rest of the Fluid I do in the evening. If I'm short on protein I add either 1/2 or a whole Syntrax double stuffed cookie made with 1% milk (I've only had to do that 2 or 3 times). I am a single mom with a deceased ex and a full time job. I have to do what I have to do and while I understand there are certain lifestyle changes I have to make for this surgery to work, it also has to work with my life....the one thing I have not gotten a handle on yet is adding the exercise. I can do it on weekends but honestly after standing and walking all day I am barely making it home and getting dinner made at night I am so tired. I was actually feeling not totally worms out when I got home tonight and thought we would go for awake only to discover once I got here that a portion of our privacy fence had blown down today and our rotten puppies could escape. I had to do an emergency fence repair and goodness by the time I got it back up and screwed on I was worn out.... So no walk today! I'm not stressing the exercise too much yet since I'm only 3 weeks post- and extremely active all day long....I'm hoping a I heal I'll be able to start handling it....

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
