At the beginning it's really hard. I'm about 11 weeks out and I'm still struggling a bit with Protein. I'm to get around 70 which I not an issue but now they want more veggies and fruit in. With adding these it gets really hard. I'm trying to keep my calories under 800. Heck 65 calories are just in Vitamins. Water is a lot easier now. I do so much better with a glass than a water bottle. I think there is less air??

It's a struggle! I find on days I work I'm constantly behind on both but on days off I can stay focused. Since it's a huge downfall for me I try to get as much as I can in before I leave for the day. I also realized carrying a small Water bottle helps me. Every time I finish one it's a mini victory... Just stay focused and work your way up to it.

Protein is a little easier for me as long as I add 1/2 a banana other wise it's hard, Water ugh a friend told me to try fresh fruit in the water bottle so I did that this this Morning!! I tried it w/ Crystal lite did not like it, did only 1/4 of it yuk! So I'll try the fresh fruit, in one I added Thin slice of lemon and I added 2 small Raspberries frozen, so I'll find out today!!

I am 8 months post op and I am just now hitting my Protein goals. I could not stand the Protein Drinks. I have found some that gives me 30 grams with only 4 oz of Fluid. I can choke it down in one gulp. If I have to go back for a second taste I have a hard time.

Music 1618... Since ur a little farther out maybe u can answer this.. Are u able to drink more at one time now? Or do u still have to take tiny sips?

No I am able to drink more at one time. The tiny sips is why I could not handle Protein Shakes. The first taste and I did not want any more of it. It was in January that I found something I could tolerate.

With Water I never had too much problem with water except that I could not drink a lot of it at once. I always felt dried out. That got much better as I was able to tolerate a little more as the months went by. I will say that water has been the easiest thing to throw up. I have done it a few times.

Kristy3K can you give us an example of what you're eating each day so we can see where the Protein is? I think thats my hardest thing right now. I'm only 5 weeks out and I'm supposed to be trying chicken and turkey but 1 bite and I feel like I'm about to dump. My stomach can not handle any kind of meat.< /p>

Breakfast body fortress super advanced whey Protein. chocolate 1 scoop in a cup of coffee (I just started one cup of coffee about 2 months ago) or 8 oz. 2% milk 1 scoop is 26 g Protein 140 cal

Snack 1 baby bel light 50 cal 6 g protein and laughing cow light creamy swiss 1 wedge 35 cal 2 g protein

lunch ½ can of tuna in spring Water drained 50 cal protein 10 g, 1 tbs light miracle whip 20 cal 1 g protein 1 tbs pickle relish 0 cal 0 protein

Or may grab a Quest Protein Bar for lunch 210 cal 20 g protein… 17 g of FIBER!!!

Snack Dannon light and fit greek yogurt 80 cal 12 g of protein

dinner ex. ½ piece of broiled parmesan tilapia 85 cal 9.5 g protein or crustless quiche ½ a slice 64 cal 9.5 g protein. And then some sort of vege about ¼ cup.

Snack.. my one indulgence 1 tbsp of planters nutrition Peanut Butter 90 cal 3 g protein

I will sometimes to 2 oz turkey Jerky for lunch 160 cal 26 g protein. Have to chew the heck out of it and it takes forever to eat.

¼ cup of pistachios gives me a crunch fix at 170 cal (yikes) 6.3 g protein. Try not to do that too often

So total protein for the typical day is around 70 sometimes more.

I take 4 16 oz Water bottles to work every day that I mix with one packet of crystal light green tea peach mango (it’s supposed to help with metabolism) Then I drink at least 2 more 16 oz bottles of water in the evening. I always walk.. every night without fail. I started out doing 1 mile really slow and now do 4 miles pretty fast. Around a 14.3 minute mile. I thought I would like running but I don’t so I just do a fast walk. May eventually start running. Ehhh doesn’t really appeal to me. And I really do like my walk. Its my me time and believe me when I never thought exercise would be my “me” time. Hope this helps. Remember I am almost a year out and it was not always easy. Some days it still isn’t.

Sorry so long.

Kristy

I'm 2 weeks out and it's real hard for me to get either in. I'm only getting about 22 oz of Water and about 20-25 gm of Protein in daily.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
