So ever since my surg 1/29. I have been very gassy and then I had my first bm on Friday and it was loose. I haven't really had a solid one... Is this normal? I'm not too worried because I'm going but just wondering. Also with every sip of liquid and food my stomach sounds like its going to take off. It's so noisy. Any others?

DOS 1/28 I haven't had a bm yet. Idk why, it feels weird not having one. And yes, my stomach sounds like an engine revving up! LoL! My dog keeps giving me the "what the hell is wrong with you" face. I started Protein Shakes today. Have you started yet?

Yes I can't drink all this required Protein. It's too hard. I made a banana Choc Peanut Butter shake yesterday and it was so delicious but after 2 hours it was not cold anymore and gross. I choked it down but didn't drink Anymore the rest if the day. This is gonna be hard

I had my RNY 1/29 also, from what everyone is telling the gas,and loud stomach noises are normal. I have daily BMs but they are still loose as well. I think our GI systems are just saying" what the hell".It's really great talking to others that had surgery the same time as me!

Hello surgery buddy. Mine was on 1/29 also. My stomach noises are insanely loud sometimes too.

I know the crazy noises have quieted down a bit now.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
