so nervous, just submitted to insurance

Recommended Posts

Doctors office just called to say they finally have all the info to submit to insurance. So excited to get this moving. But nervous that for some reason, they will not approve me for surgery. So distracted at work. I haven't told anyone at work, so it is really hard. I am a teacher and work with a lot of women that I think will judge me and talk behind my back. Don't know what I am going to tell coworkers when I have to take 2-3 weeks off. Any good ideas?

Do you have any long distance relatives? Could always say one is sick need to take care of...or have personal business you need to attend to....will they know its planned? Tell them you broke your leg

Won't it be strange for you when you come back to work having dropped weight and still losing? Your co workers will put it together that you had something done and start with the talking...I say who cares....good luck with your surgery its about you not them....

Just state that Ms..... Will be on leave for 2-3weeks for personal reasons and personnel dept

Isn't allowed to give your information out.

Then you go back a thin Ms......(your name)

And your happy to start this new chapter in your life

This could be a good teaching for the students

Also

Good luck

You will be fine! And they will approve you! (Fingers crossed)

I only told one person at work and I am the HR person. :-)

I'm about 11 weeks out and a few people have noticed my weight loss but only one (that I know of) wondered if I had surgery. I just told everyone I was having surgery. So, so far so good. No one really pushed the issue, even my boss has not asked. But I am sure that will change when they see me the end of March!

Good luck to you!

Vacation for Me time. Or nothing at all... It's your life. If they are judgmental they should not be given info that isn't their business....

I did not tell many people I worked with unless they directly asked me. As I work with many back stabbing judgmental people. I explained that I had PCOS that was causing infertility and needed to lose weight and with my pcos I had. Hard time Losing weight . And that is why my doctors and I decided it would be a good idea to have surgery. I am sure now that I have been out of work for 3 weeks people have gotten all the talking about me out of there system by he time I get back to work in three weeks.

I do recommend telling people if they directly ask. I had a co worker that had the gastric sleeve done and told people she had a hernia repair. So when the truth comes out its not good . Best of luck and do what is best for you and your family

Thanks for all the ideas! Still waiting and trying to decide what to say, if anything. Teachers do not get vacation days during the school year, so that won't work.

Well then do it over the summer and then you won't have to explain much!

Then do it. I really don't need to tell co workers or bosses. It's my life. I will just be losing weight. But that's just me. By now in my life I don't feel the need to explain myself to anyone that isn't my husband..... Not even parents or in-laws. They were just told and asked to help w kids on Hosp dates and for a few days after. If they didn't then my husband would do it by himself.

I am done explaining..... My new journey of no regrets :-)

That's how I feel. My family is either making negative comments or giving me the silent treatment like they want to say something but they know if they do I will lash out on them lol. It is amazing how soooo many people look down on this surgery!! 

I know. I might have to have a convo w inlaws. No one thinks I need it but my mom and drs because of whatever reason. I don't care anymore because w my condition it's either this or risk death or be handicapped.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
