You are not alone. This is what I do.

I eat Protein first a small amount 1/2 cup and I'm not hungry no biggy but I wait at least 1/2 hour to a hour to eat something else still 1/2 cup I eat nuts cheese and drink Powerade the zero one or Water in between I fall in my weakness and eat something I'm not supposed but I don't eat a lot of something a bite or two.

If you always eat something and keep something in your system you will adjust from living to eat TO eating to live.

Best of luck

rgraven319 - We are so much a like. My surgery was 11/19 and I have lost 36 pounds. I am always hungry. I actually ate a big oatmeal cookie on Sunday to see if I would dump and no, I don't. I was hoping this would scare me not to eat it but no such luck. I could eat all day long. I am doing my best not to snack. I do have bites of naughty stuff but it keep my sanity. But I still feel like I am failing.

Guys don't shoot yourself down if you don't give yourself a small treat every once in a while you WILL fail the dr don't want you not to enjoy yourself ever just not every day pick one day or sometimes two a week and have a naughty food and move on dont stress because that will depress you and make you do it more it took about 6 months to get hungry but some are shorter and some are longer I suggest myfitnesspal app you enter your food and portions and don't lie. I remember averaging between 800-1200 cal and you will lose weight with that real high Protein good complex carbs and not a lot of them few veggies they give you gas lol. Hang in there I'm 18 months out I've lost 168 lb I'm trying to stop but can't find my sweet spot on calories have fun it will come off just don't eat too many naughty foods but live happy I was so afraid when I was where y'all are and the plateaus will freak you out but have no fear they do end

Remember the 80% rule. If you eat well 80% of the time you will be okay. Honestly, will power is a huge part of the surgery. It's not a sort term diet you can give up on-- don't get too discouraged. Make sure you're eating lost of Protein, it will help fill you up and stay full longer. Also, make sure you are drinking your water!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
