O.k. ladies and gentleman I had my surgery on 21 Jan in Weiden Germany. I was in the hospital for four days. I think that was the worst part for me. I got a liter of Water in me the day after and have increased the intake everyday since. I got to eat my first "meal" day three. I had to force myself to eat and I'm still doing that. I'm getting 4 to 6 ounces of Protein Shake down at a time and not finding a "full" feeling, so I'm a little worried about that, time will tell. I read a post somewhere here about burping indicating you're full, so I'm using this as a guide. As far as pain I tolerate a great deal, so I would say I feel something uncomfortable and annoying. I did get my period on day 3 even though i had it a week prior, so i do have cramps. I also have gas and will trying the gas x strips as suggested, but everyone is right walking does help with that and highly suggest it! To all getting ready to have surgery GOOD LUCK! You have nothing to worry about.

You are still healing and your nerves are not 'working' yet. You both sound like you are on the right track. Measure and you will be fine. Eventually, the full feeling will start with the healing process. I rem the first time I had bowl of chicken Soup and felt it. I was about two weeks out. Good luck to you both.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
