So I'm my 3rd month of physician supervised weight loss. I started out with a daily calorie goal of 1200, which was pretty do-able, but the weight loss was s-l-o-w. I've gone down to 1000 calories this month as my doctor initially recommended (she's tiny!). I had been reading theworldaccordingtoeggface.com and I decided to try and begin my high protein-low carb-low fat post surgery diet now for practice. I'm really struggling with it. I am definitely a carb addict. It might be my TOTM coming up, so I might be able to attribute some of my hideous cravings toward that, but I am feeling like such a failure right now (I ate tortilla chips and flan last night) I hope it gets a little bit easier after surgery. are any of you struggling like me?

YES! You are not alone. My doc doesn't believe in "diets" he says they will never work. It's a new life style we have to strive for because when the diets over the weight comes back and so far he's right I have tried weight watchers, medical weight loss, nutrisystem spend thousands of dollars and I am still over weight. I have gained all I lost. I have to learn how to eat, there is no end date. Hang in there :)

I always do really well eating high Protein low carb. Its hard because the first 2 weeks my cravings are through the roof, after that they die down and I don't really even think about carbs anymore. Its strange. You can do this!

I've also been trying to do this approach. I will say I have noticed that after eating really well and if I go on a carb binge, I am so exhausted that I feel like I can't move one bit!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
