Hey there. I'm new to this app and I've found a lot of useful info on here.

Just a run down tho, I'm 24, 314lbs, 5'10". I have gone through my consultation and I am now on phase 2.

I have an appointment on 2-12 for my dietician and psych eval. All of the blood work and imaging on 1-27. I'm uber excited. It seems that the process is moving way more faster than I expected.

I will be posting regularly so that I can provide just as much helpful info that you all supplied me.

Misscelia, have you been through all of the evals? If so, I am curious as to when everything was submitted to the insurance company and also what information was required. ( 5 yr weight history, diets tried,.........) I am trying to be as prepared as possible with previous medical records and such....

Hi myliza26! I have completed all my evals, I have BCBS PPO of Cali and I had to do 1)psych eval 1)nutrition appointment 1)Endoscopy, bloodwork. & a letter from the surgeon with all the dieting I've tried and that was all, I'm surprised they didn't ask me for anything else. My bmi was barely 40.7 so they rounded it up to 41. I had everything sent in by Christmas but somehow insurance didn't get some of the paper work so they resent it and according to my patient coordinator I should find out by the end of the week (: I hope this helps you out, I just hate the waiting process....

Misscelia, my BMI is 36.6 with comorbidities. I am worried about insurance approval even though I am pretty sure that I qualify. Should I have a diet history ready for my surgeon when I go for the initial eval? Sorry for all of the questions!!! Thanks for the help!

@myliza26 no worries about the questions I don't mind, yes definitely write down a list of your previous attempts, and then you can take it with you on your psych eval & nutrition appointment because they ask about previous attempts as well (:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
