Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Checking in again...

Went to see "Shrek 3"... enjoyable, but #1 was best, then #2, so that makes this #3. Did fine w/my drinks, even tho I had to keep passing the popcorn bag & jumbo soda back & forth to the kids.

Did not go to Panda Ex after, which is good. Went grocery shopping instead. Wow my stomach was growling!

Came home/food away/broth w/protein powder in it/nap... woke up & I am SOOOOOOO HUNGRY! And CRANKY! Family had dinner while I was snoozing on the couch... man it smelled so good... & it was just hot dogs on the grill! This is getting REALLY HARD! I am REALLY QUESTIONING MY DETERMINATION & ABILITY TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THIS!

I mixed up another Protein Shake and came into the dark office & straight to lbt & you guys...

But I swear it would be SO SO SO EASY to go into the kitchen & grab a dog or two and EAT THEM STANDING AT THE COUNTER! And I'm really not all that big a fan of the 'dog.

This is the end of Day 6 liquids -- not even 1/2 way there yet!!! I am using ALL my strategies & positive thinking & visualisations & self-talk & avoidance (after I'm done here I'm going to go upstairs, fold laundry & get into bed... my ultimate diet strategy -- go to bed!)... but I'm not sure how long they will hold me back! Ultimately the #1 thought that I keep repeating to myself is that if I "cheat" on this 15-day liq diet, then I run the serious chance that my big, fatty liver won't shrink or whatever and either they'll have to slice me open or won't be able to do the surgery at all. That's it... the magical thought. But what happens when I don't care about that????? How long will it hold me??? Another thought I have is that if I can't do this for 2 weeks, then I shouldn't get the band... that's a good backup thought for now, too. I hope they're strong enough to last for 8 more days!!!!!!!

I'm not worried about the post-op liquid phase, as I figure that's all I'll be able to / want to "eat" then, anyway. It's just NOW!!!

Thanks for letting me rant... I'm off to bed!!

A thought: "I've had more than my share of****** in my life and eating another serving right now isn't what I should do or really want to do".

Denise - Great pic!! Looks like ya'll had a great time! Are you gonna clean and cook all those fish?? You're a better woman than me! I don't do any of that stinky stuff....no way, no how! HEY! Are those pants looking a little baggy???? :what:

Mdrai - I'm so sorry honey. Honestly, I don't think I could have done what you're doing. VERY fortunately, my doc did not require a liquid diet pre-op so I can't really relate and don't have any wonderful, magical advice for you. I'm sorry :( But I do what to tell you that I'm extremely proud of you for being so strong. Passing popcorn back and forth is the ultimate test and if you can pass that one, you can do anything!! And besides, just think of what a great head start on the weight loss you're getting! All of the girls here who did it had wonderful results and you will too. It's just a few more days. Do the best you can...that's all you can do. :)

The fish are now clean - my hubby cut their heads off and I gutted them LOL...I've been fishing with my father (god rest his soul), my hubby and kids all of my life, so it's just second nature to me. :(

THANK YOU SO MUCH for noticing that my pants are baggy!!!! I started this journey in a snug size 24, and these are 22's that are getting a little baggy. I am thrilled that you noticed!!!!

I could hug you right now! :)

Hi everyone, been so busy, I have been helping my step mom out at her pizza shop. She did a huge favor for me when i needed help so I am helping her out as she had an employee just vanish. Well you all know I've just been in a horrible place, can't find a job, finishing school, so now no child support in over a month, $1100 owed, so you know what I have to do monday, and now i went to transfer my unemployment money and I found out that I did not get paid this week. So $1500 owed and another bunch tomorrow. I am leaving things up to the universe but still busting my butt to make changes happen, b ut it just seems to be one thing on top of another.

On a happy note, we went to applebees for lunch today, before I knew I didn't have any money - and I ordered the WW shrimp - no steak, no rice and extra broccoli. I ate 5 shrimp and a few bites of broc and had the same for dinner. I started late, that was actually Breakfast and lunch and for dinner at the pizza shop i cooked 1 chicken tender with 1 slice of provo cheese. Did I lose? who knows but i'm proud of myself. I am finding I am hungry much more frequently, get to see my nutritionist Monday and Fill appt (I hope) on the 12th.

Anyway, that is my life. A mess. but maybe some day i'll be thin while disfunctional.

night all

OMG...gettting that diet ticker on here is so painful i would rather just stick a needle in my eye!!!! I read the instructions....my 3 year old is not here to confuse me, and I still can't do it. I thought i was pretty savvy but my goodness, i guess not!!

So, (deep breath) forget it. :)

I am down from 257 to 236 now!! woohoo! I hope you all have a great weekend!!

TracyTX

Hi Tracy - let me walk you thru the ticker thing.

1. click on someone's ticker - it will take you to the website to create yours.

2. click the box that says: "Create your own ticker"

3. click the "WEIGHT LOSS" or "EVENT" (your choice if you want to track the weight loss or count down to the surgery -- or count from the date you had surgery.) I am going to assume you clicked "WEIGHT LOSS" for the following steps.

4. click the ticker bar you wish to have as yours (there are 13 pages of designs to choose from - to see another page just click the page #) once you have decided - click "NEXT"

5. click the ticker slider you wish to have as yours (there are 7 pages of designs to chose from) once you decided - click "NEXT"

6. complete this page with your options - password; tracking by change of weight or showing actual weight and lbs lost; your target and starting weight; current weight and weight date; your height - click "NEXT"

7. highlight the code in the first box - starts with "[url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/..." copy it (right mouse click - copy)

8. goto your "EDIT SIGNATURE" on your lapbandtalk and paste it (right mouse click - paste)

9. preview signature -- then add spaces and additional content as you wish.

Let me know if you need more help -- or if you have questions regarding these instructions.

Good Luck!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

Angie - From what I've read on other posts, what you're experiencing is very normal. Some people need a few fills before they feel a difference. I've also seen that some people don't feel any restriction for a week to two weeks after a fill - so that may be what you're experiencing.

One more story -- really kind of funny!

In my post that I lost I was telling you about my DD who is going to be 16 in July. Yesterday it was raining so I told her that we were going to go pick her sister up from the bus stop and she could drive. Well she was backing out and turned the wheel the wrong way and when I was telling her to hit the brake she panicked and hit the gas and ran us into my brick retaining wall…………… the story gets better! So my car is not teetering off of a slab of the brick. So my DH gets home and tries to pull my car out without any luck it is stuck and it is really damaged. I call the insurance company they are sending a tow truck out on Monday but the tow truck driver calls and asks me about my car being stuck on a wall. I try and explain and he tells me he is not sure he can get it out! Good grief! If he can’t get it then what, does it become part of the lawn decorations? My poor DD I was yelling at her and it was really not her fault. I just saw my car and could not believe it. Oh well. I get a rental on Monday and if this guy gets my car out he will be towing it to the shop! KIDS!! I swear.

Mdrai~ You can do this. I did a liquid diet for 10 days, then 2 days clear broth, w/ no cheats. There is a thread posted somewhere, I think called Liquid Diet Beware (something like that). Anyway, it is about a bandster whose roommate in the hospital cheated on her liquid diet and her liver did not shrink enough, and they decided once they were inside that they could not do the surgery. She was devastated, and had the incisions to remind her of the failure. Think how hard it was to get the date...you can do this. Some advice: No more movies until after. I could not go to movies or resturaunts. I even had the in laws here, and stayed home when they went out. I also requested that MIL did not cook at the house, it would be too hard!

You've got the purple people behind you!

Good Morning, Shrink'n Violets!!!

Today was weigh in day and I lost 2# this week!! It's off to the jewelry store for another angel charm tomorrow morning before we leave for DH's surgery.

Gina.. your pics are GREAT.. you can really see a difference.. keep up the great work!!:clap2:

Angie.. sorry to hear about your car and your DD... hope they can get the car off the wall and be thankful your DD wasn't on the highway when something like that happened. At least she is ok. The car can always be fixed pain free except for the hole in your pocketbook!!

Not ever having a fill I don't know what to tell you about that.

Adorable.... you look ADORABLE!! :clap2: What kind of fish were those?? I absolutely LOVE fishing, but don't get to do much anymore..

I'm off to church.. everyone have a great day and stick to the bandster rules!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
