Protein Shake Recipes, I need help!

Recommended Posts

I have surgery on January 28th and I have started my pre op diet. I am to do two Protein Shakes a day (8 oz.). I need all of you to help me with recipes or things you have done to make your Protein shakes taste good. Any information will be appreciated. Thanks!!!

I'm not a big fan of the Protein shakes either but I drink mine every single day as instructed. I use Isopure Dutch Cholocate. I use about 3/4 cup of Water and two scoops of the powder (50 grams of protein). Since I only use 3/4 cup of Water I have very little to drink and I just down it. I take as big of a gulp as I can, I usually do this after I work out in the a.m. the Protein helps you recover from exercising and it gives me a bost in the a.m.

I heard there is unflavord protein that you can mix in your food without changing the taste.

Not sure if that much Protein is good right after surgery. I did the SF Carnation Breakfast drink for a few days and then once I was given the green light to start on pureed foods I started with a Protein Shake. Syntrax is good and I started drinking the Isopure at GNC. It's 23 grams of Protein with very very low sugars and carbs. I go with 12 to 14 oz of ff milk and a scoop of powder in a Blender Bottle. It's great as a Meal Replacement. It curbs my appetite. This is what I've been doing and it seems to work well. Not sure if it matters but I'm a guy also.

I am 1 month post op and I have found a great Protein shake. I start very morning with it, otherwise I would not come near my daily Protein goals. I have to drink it in 2 sittings... I have 1/2 for breakfast and 1/2 afternoon around 2 or 3.

The recipe:

1 cup of 1/2% milk

1 scope unjury unflavored Protein Powder

1 packet Carnation instants breakfast no sugar added, with protein milk chocolate flavor

That alone is great, but when I want to shake things up I add 1 tablespoon of Peanut Butter

Or 1 tablespoon of sugar free Carmel sauce.

It's yum and has around 40 to 45g of protein. Like I mentioned above I drink it in 2 sittings.

Good luck!

Yes... And no.

In this shake I do not taste it at all. You have to put it in things that will mask the flavor. I have put too much in yogurt and it was not good. In this shake, I really do not taste any of it.

This is my favorite:

8-10oz Water or skim milk

6 ice cubes

2 scoops Protein powder

2T sugar free instant pudding powder

2T Splenda, optional

Blend it all up!

I use chocolate Protein powder with chocolate pudding mix and it's really, really good. My girls will ask for it! I'll occasionally add a T of Peanut Butter.

To change it up a little, use vanilla protein powder and pudding mix. It's great just like that, but it's also fabulous with some frozen strawberries in place of the ice cubes.

I'd wondered about adding ice. I'm going to make one as soon as everyone in the house is awake. If I put ice in the blender right now I'd regret it this afternoon because my girls would be CRABBY! :-)

Syntrax double stuffed cookie...tastes like an oreo milkshake! Because of this heavenly shake, I am able to get in 60+ grams of Protein a day being only 11 days post-op! It tastes like COOKIES!! It's $35 can be found on Amazon, Vitamin Shoppe, etc. Add 8 oz skim plus to one scoop power, you get 35g of protein, 210 cals. UHHHMAZINGGG!

GNC has an iisolate Protein that has 23 gr of Protein and they have some great flavors. Cookies and Cream and chocolate are my favorites. They have some other flavors that I plan on trying soon. Yesterday I tried the Syntrax caribbean cooler and oh my was it horrible. I tried the Fuzzy Navel the other day and that was decent.

Forgot to mention the GNC drinks are very very low in carbs and sugars which is perfect for me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
