Surgery is in 2 days and I'm feeling super nervous.

Recommended Posts

My surgery is 12/29. For a few weeks I have been miserable doubting myself, surgery, everything. I was so upset I couldn't just do it on my own. I went to a party, had temptations of food and drink and KNEW I couldn't do it on my own. My Daddy just passed this August, so Christmas was unbelievably hard. That made me stop worrying about surgery for a few days and now... I'm at peace, almost excited! I did my pre admin testing yesterday. I'm ready. I know this is right and it's going to change my life. I'm so excited for the new person I'll be next holiday season! I'm still emotional- it's a huge deal- but confused no more. Stick with it, find your peace, you're doing this for all the right reasons in your world- your family.

Hi Tim. It is very normal to feel nervous. I just kept focusing on how much better I would feel, how much healthier I would be, and what it would mean to be able to run with my son! You will do awesome! And how great will it be to have energy to keep up with your daughter. Good luck. Praying for a speedy recovery.

Had surgery as planned. My doctor said everything went extremely well. The only complication is that I'm apparently allergic to surgical tape (lol). So far so good. If I had to pic a worst part about it there are two: A) the completely unneccesary mental anquish I put myself through beforehand, and B) the hospital bed which wasn't comfortable in any position. I've been up walking since the day of surgery and each day it gets easier and easier. I'll be moving to the post-op board now so I'll see you app there. Thanks again for all your support.

Yes. I am home now. Had the surgery on Friday morning aroun 7:00AM. It took 4.5 hours. Stayed at the hospital overnight. Came home Saturday morning around 6:00AM. I've been getting Water and caffene herbal teas (brewed then cooled) in without any problems. Tomorrow is the first day I can have almond milk, soy milk and such and I'm really looking forward to the change in flavors (never been a big tea guy).

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
