At first you might feel pain & discomfort since you just got it done.

Are you still in the hospital? or are you home? This is just anxiety. Take you pain meds that are ordered for you and rest. The hard part is about over. You made it through the surgery now you must do what you need to do to recover. Sip Walk and rest. so sleep is important. My thoughts and prayers are with you because I can sense the fear you are going through and it breaks my heart. I pray for comfort for you and peace and that this anxiety will go away. Gently Hugs

Thank u, because it was anxiety. Everytime I tried to sleep I felt like u couldn't breath. I'm doing better today than I was before. Im just glad that I found this forum. It helps with my anxiety to no someone else has been through this and they r okay. I'm moving around a lot better, just trying to remember to eat something because the pain meds put me straight to sleep

Glad you are doing better. I was worried about you. I know how that panic feeling can feel and you don't need that on top of the pain and gas and everything else. When you are awake try to make sure you drink cause you are right the pain meds do sometimes put you to sleep right away. But each day will get better and you will need less pain med and be able to get in more meals. Right now liquid is so very very important. Wishing you the best each hour.

Thank u so much. Because without this forum I would be lost. I don't tell many people my business at all. And so far you are right. Today I took the medicine but took a brief nap. Not like the other days when I practically slept standing up lol and falling a sleep in the bathroom :)

I've been Drinking and doing my broths, not really up to eating purreed things except mash potatoes

I found it challenging to breathe right after surgery because of the pressure from the gas. I found the spirometer helpful. It really does get better every day. Wishing for you great success!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
