5 weeks post op - very worried!

Recommended Posts

Had my revision (Band to RNY) 5 weeks ago. Lucky to not have had too much pain or complications. Thanks to God! But.... I don't have any noticeable restriction. I have lost some weight but not as much as I thought I would. 1st 2 weeks - 10 lbs. down. next 3 - 4 weeks were very slow! Maybe a pound or so each week? ???

I log everything on MFP and am sticking to 45 carbs and 600 calories per day!

I know my pouch must be way bigger than an ounce or two. I think I can hold at least a cup or more!

I notice I am losing inches but it is very depressing that I am sticking to a really strict diet and not losing any actual weight!

What is the normal weight loss expected after a month out? I am at about 15 pounds.

I am worried that if I have this much room in my stomach right now, what will it be like in a year?

I will tell you what everyone else has been telling me, just wait it out it will happen. I was like yeah yeah when they would tell me that but it is true. Listen to your body and make sure to get all your Protein in. That is sooo important and I have found that I lose more when I get all my protein in. I lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks so give that a try and just remember it takes time. :)

Thank you so much. I just thought it would be different. I am only 20 lbs. pounds from my doctors goal (175) and then 10 more will put me at a normal BMI. How many carbs and calories and Protein should I be consuming at this point?

:)

When your not very big you lose weight slower then everyone else. We also hit stalls. This is like my 3rd stall in 6 months. You will make it to your goal weight.

Looks like your progress has been really good. Thanks for your feedback. What do you keep your calories, carbs and Protein at this far out?

Oh, I am at the same point. I have more to lose than you but I am not losing and I have been stuck for 3 weeks. So discouraging. I have to fight not eating because I am hungry and not sure how much i can eat but there seems to be no restriction. It is Ustinov like I'm dieting without the benefits of the surgery.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
