Hang in there! This journey is not easy and we all obviously have had food issues and those just don't go away. Focus on the success you have had thus far and commit to making good food choices. You got this!!

You can always start again. Throw out the soda and Cookies. Go back on liquids and consider yourself deathly allergic.to sugar

I'm pre-op too, and yes, this forum is a Godsend!

MFP is an amazing tool for food and exercise tracking that you can use as an app on your phone or on a normal computer. I HIGHLY recommend it. Lots of us use it. :)

Ah! Congrats on the date! I'll be submitting to my insurance in the beginning of Jan (after going through the 6 mo physician supervised weight loss required by insurance) and my surgeon is booking 2.5 months out. Add a month for processing of paperwork and I'll probably be getting surgery early April. It will have been a 10 month journey for me to get approved. I started everything June 2012. Haha sometimes it feels like it will never happen.

You must be so excited!! :)

I know what you mean, I started in June as well! They said a month for paperwork and it took 3 days lol maybe it can be that quick for you!

Thanks Jane C and hpineda' date=' I truly appreciate your words of encouragement. As for the other young lady, please don't get it twisted. Im doing extremely well with my weight lost. I would appreciate it if you would not continue to comment on my thread. I utilize this site to work on behaviors I struggle with, BUT I feel get and look even better.[/quote']

If you had really understood my post you wouldn't see it as unsupportive, but I understand, most people don't want to hear that they aren't doing the right things. Good luck. I hope you find better substitutes for Cookies and soda soon before your pouch inevitably expands and the calories start to matter.

She knows she's not doing the right things. She is asking for help, not someone telling her she doesn't deserve sympathy. We all struggle and slip up.

And I'm not saying your strategy is bad - again - I think that way myself - but I'm telling you it's not the right strategy for everybody and it came off angry and negative, despite the fact I know you were just trying to help in the best way you knew.

I'm sorry that I can't be "nice" and "supportive" by justifying your actions. Truly I am. But the fact of the matter is that you will lose weight for the first year even if you eat a cookie and a soda every day because you're able to eat so little that you can't gain weight from it. This, however, is only TEMPORARY and if you continue down this path you will fail this surgery. If you really can't handle the reality I'm telling you, because it is the reality you're heading towards, I'm sorry. Ignore my realistic comments and enjoy reading the ones of people telling you that what you're doing is okay.

I wouldn't say any of this if I I wanted you to fail.

None of us are saying its okay. Which one of us has done that? We're telling her she can do it, she can make the right choices. I need to withdraw from this. Maybe we need to agree to disagree : )

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
