I've had diarrhea since surgery' date=' so no poop fears here. Just called my surgeon because I have a low grade fever, elevated heart rate, and heart palpitations. This is some what normal for me after a major trauma, my body always spazzes out. He wants me to come in, in the morning for an EKG. He thinks I'm fine though.[/quote']

Praying for good results for you.

Surgery yesterday. Couldn't walk yesterday w/o feeling nauseated. But walking today isn't a problem. Been passing some gas by belching. Sore but I think a lot of it is gas among with tenderness around lap Entry points.

:-) Dec 15th New me and life begins ;-)

I am so glad you you posted I was wondering about you. Keep us posted.

I had the Q pump. It drips a numbing medication all over your insides. It lasts 72 hours. I went home with it. Hubby had to pull it out' date=' that was awkward. It worked okay, but I also had other pain mere.[/quote']

Your husband stronger stomached than mine is. I hope you are feeling better.

The painkiller in the pump keeps me pretty darn sleepy. They will remove that tomorrow. So hopefully more energy tomorrow.

Just wanted to share my journey with everyone so far. My surgery was Dec.3rd and everything went really good. I had a good amount of pain the day of and started feeling better each day. I came home on the 5th and I was feeling great :) On post-op day 4 and 5 - I started to have some pain in my back on the left side. My doc wanted me to go in to have it checked and I had pneumonia :( I was treated with IV antibiotics and given 2 liquid antibiotics to take at home. The pain in my back was pretty intense for about a week. I am feeling wonderful now :) I am so glad that I made this choice for a healthier me and every day I am feeling better and better. Even tho I had a rough start and know that there will be more rough Patches to come- I am so excited about the new me :):):) (if any of you guys start having the pain in your back in the rib area-please call your doc and have it checked!) I am starting to walk more and more and I am starting to get my liquids and protien in like I should. I wish everyone luck and hope you all have a speedy recovery and are feeling as good as I am :)

So I'm supposed to get in 2 shakes + 64oz of fluids a day. Right now I'm getting in 2 shakes + 40oz of fluids. That isn't absolutely terrible is it? I've tried so hard to get in the last 24oz and I just can't do it yet. I'm 4 days post op.

I ran out of my liquid pain meds yesterday my doctor forgot to call my refill in so I am left in full pain right now its really really bad and has me doubled over I was wondering if maybe it would be ok to take some differant pain meds that I still have it is ""loratab with acetaminphen 7.5mg""

What were you taking that you ran out of? I would take the lotitab...that's what I was on for 2 Weeks..if in doubt, Call your provider...just as long as you don't take it along with tylenol

That's what my doc prescribed for me so it must be safe... Does your bariatric center have an on call doc? I'd try calling them first because maybe there is a reason you didn't get the loritab first

Glad to hear that our more recent December dates are doing so well....So glad you are on the losers bench, but don't forget to get up and walk! I'm returning to work tomorrow and after the tragedy in CT can't wait to see MY kids (students) and tell them how much I missed them all. Bittersweet homecoming, but looking so forward to it! Stay healthy and keep healing everyone!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
