Wondering if brain "fog" is from too little Protein intake??? What's the max Protein you are all on by now?

I try to get 60 - 80 a day of protein and plenty of fluids. What kind of "brain fog"? I find myself fatigued if my fluids are low.

I also get fatigued , as well as some dizziness when I lay down then stand up.

I get enough fluids, but tend to eat more salad than Protein, or a veggie Soup. "Brain fog" was the only way I could think of describing it, like thinking through cotton wool? As though it takes forever to think something through that normally happens easily? Not as sharp as usual? I drink umpteen teas and Water each day.

Have you called your dietician? i wonder if it could be Vitamin deficiency. On another note- I had a brain fog when I had Lyme disease. I am sure it was from all the spirochetes living in my brain. It cleared after treatment.

I hear ya! I had stalled for a bit and took Ozzie's advice of upping Protein and increased my exercise. That worked for me but I was stuck for about four weeks. I also found I was nibbling between meals and have stopped that bad habit from coming back. It is hard to break. I am forcing myself to write every bite down and it has helped significantly. I hope you start to lose again : )

Well good news!!! I have stopped losing and actually was able to gain a pound back. But I decided that since it's gone I don't really want to gain it. So I am trying to maintain at 126 now and if I gain that is fine. But I'm not going to intentionally try to gain which is what I was doing last week. Definitely am not trying to lose. I am so full right now. 2oz Turkey breast for dinner and 5 white cheddar crackers. I had a defrosting, not intentional, in my freezer and lost everything that was in it. meat and veggies gone bad :-(

Unfortunately it was my outside (garage) freezer, so I didn't know about it right away :-( I hope everyone is doing well on your weight loss. I'm very grateful over the last 10 months that I found y'all on this forum. I think knowing you guys were here has helped me through 2 surgeries, venting about the still on going divorce, and everything else. Thank you!!!

Thanks Nicole. I need a new picture. I will get my son to take one. I purchased a pair of American eagle jeans size 10. I think I could've done a 8. Congratulations on your weight loss. My husband is doing the sleeve in December. He got jealous!

Okay December group. I can't get enough food today. I'm afraid of over eating, but every three hours today I'm starved out. Has anyone else experience this?

Tummy grumbles or bored eating? I've been "bored eating" lately so thought I might ask. If its grumbles, might be time to add in a few more healthy calories...otherwise, a hobby like playing cards, crochet, reading, etc.? I have to keep my hands busy when I get like that. Good luck!! :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
