Hey everyone! I'm new to this group, I haven't had surgery yet, and quite honestly I don't know when my surgery will be scheduled for. I am getting nervous. I feel like I have been at this for ages, but I know that's me just being impatient.

The program I am in is pretty intensive (don't get me wrong, that's a good thing-- I am getting so much info) but it is exhausting.

I have had to go to orientation, 2 appts with my coordinator, one with my surgeon, 2 appts with a dietician, 2 support groups, and EGD, board of surgeon approval, had to lose 5% of my weight, and do an online education course...and now I have to do my psych eval and pre-op education before I can even be considered for scheduling.

I'm really happy that everyone seems to be really supportive and accepting here, and look forward to networking with everyone!

Welcome BustedBeauty- Hang in w/ those requirements. I only have preop labs left and a physical, then suegery on 1/7. There's so many people on here to look to for inspiration, strength, & motivation. I plan to post updates. From what I see on here, it will be worth it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
