Hi all. I have been reading on this site for several months while I was deciding on having the procedure done. I am now scheduled for surgery on February 15 with Dr. Malley in Kansas and am excited and of course nervous as well. Thanks to everyone here, it has been very encouraging and helpful.

I am so excited to start this journey and get my life back. I am a mother of 3 young children; twin girls age 4 and a little boy who turns 1 this week. I am 28, 5' 11" and weigh 273 and feel like my weight is holding me back from doing so much with my children...who wants to go to the neighborhood pool when you feel like a whale, right?

Well, enough for now. Just thought I would post since I'm sure I will be needing a lot of ecouragement soon and hope to do the same for others as my journey progresses.

Thanks for everything this far.;)

m1hocker,

We'll be in the hospital together! Now if I can just get TracyinKS to join us it will be a party!

I'm also a patient of Dr. Malley's and have surgery on 2/15 at Doctors Hospital. Just like you, I'm scared, nervous and excited all at the same time.

Best of luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Sharon

Good luck to all of you that are being banded in February! I think many of us feel that this is one of the best decisions we have ever made. I feel free from that constant put down my mind does to me....

Best wishes...

Congrats on getting your surgery. I noticed that they are several of you getting your surgery the same day. I didn't know any of the people who where having the surgery the same day as me but I did take my camera to the hospital and after I met the other girls we took our picture together. We e-mail each other and sometime see each other at Dr. Malley's office on our fill days. I'm so glad that I have that incommon with them. We have been able to support each other through some tuff times. Good Luck to all of you and enjoy the experience. :clap2:

Okay...time is nearing and I am really freaking out about going under for surgery. I know this is a VERY rare occurence for someone to die, but none the less, am still terrified. Did anyone else freak out more about living through the surgery versus life with the band? I have had gall bladder surgery, 2 c-sections and wisdom teeth extracted and did fine through all those, but this time I am a nervous wreck. Just want to be around for the kiddos...that is one of the main reasons I want to get my life back. Any encouragement would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
