I thought I would start a thread that might help keep us accountable for exercising. Post on here what you did today for exercise. Come back daily and use this thread as an exercise log.

Walked my neighborhood...and realized the walk that 2 months ago took me 35 minutes and exhausted me, now takes 22 minutes and I'm still raring to go! Apparently time to add another loop on our path!

  • Ok so I'm a postal worker and have the day off so started exercise early... Rode stationary bike for 25 min and then swam 15 laps.. Hubby and I are off to walk 2 miles... It's a beautiful day in Oklah

:) I bought a commercial machine and I do the fat burner one for 30 minutes and then repeat. (for some reason that program will only let you do 30 minutes max. I don't know why so you have to do it twice) Tonight was my first night to get back up to 60 minutes since surgery. I've been at 30 and 45 forever! I had an ACL reconstruction in 05 and this is the only high cardio I can do comfortably. :)

You go girl!! I cant do that long (actually I can go about 15 minutes...then I am done!) but I can walk on the treadmill for an hour with no problems! I am working on the elliptical getting more time...just will take me a while! Thanks for the inspiration!!

I Only managed 47 minutes today. :) meh, it'll do. :) anything is better than nothing. It took me a whole to get up to this.

I know what you mean' date=' I dont have chronic pain...but a year ago I would have NEVER thought I'd love the gym and would NEVER have thought I would exercise for 45 minutes....now moving to an hour without having a heart attack!!

Congrats!! Keep going![/quote']

I agree with you I hated exercising and know I love the gym, it makes me feel good, and its a coping skill. I do anywhere from a hour to an hour and 45 minutes.

I did an hour and 5 minutes and did about 10 to 15 minutes lifting I walked 4.45 miles

Went to the gym for the first time today. My surgery was June 11th so walking is my exercise. I saw everyone commenting on the elyptical machine so I tried on at a slow pace. Man at 5 minutes my quads were burning and my knees had it. I think I will use this as my warmup for walking.

I walked to and from work today 10 miles round trip up and down hills.

TEN miles? Good heavens? At my healthiest I could only do six before my legs turned to rubber! Awesome job!

Did ten minutes of an aerobics tape....ouch! Will walk 45 minutes later. Chronic pain sucks! Water aerobics tomorrow! Did some arm toning.

  • 4 weeks later...

Surgery is Tuesday, July 16. I have not been exercising regularly but started back again yesterday.

Sat, 7/13 - exercise bike for 2 miles

Sun 7/14 - exercise bike for 2 miles

Mon 7/15 - will try to use the treadmill, plus exercise bike for 2 miles.

I use the exercise bike exclusively because I had knee replacement in one knee and need the other one replaced and exercise bike is good for my knees in addition to helping getting the weight off.

Arthritis in my lower back prohibits me from doing a lot of walking. Thats why I havent use the treadmill much but hopefully, after the surgery and I lose some more weight, I will be able to fit in an MRI machine and they can see exactly where to give me a cortisone shot in my lower back and hopefully I will be able to walk a distance and use a treadmill for a distance.

Had minor surgery Friday, so only light walking today....

All this crazy gain has really dampened my exercise routine! However, so grateful to have found a gym that I can use

Light walking for 45 minutes....can't do water aerobics for two weeks, and I'm jonesing.

30 minutes of brisk walking and 15 minutes of lifting arm weights... I'm zonked and sweaty from this darn heat! Water aerobics tomorrow! Thank heaven!

Water aerobics sound great! I wish they had that nearby. The closest Y is 18-20 miles away from me. The beach is only five miles away.

Which brings me to another issue. I have not worn a bathing suit in maybe 12-14yrs. The elastic in my suit is rotted with age. For two weeks I have been looking for a suit so I can cool off at the beach after work (we're in the midst of another heat wave right now). All the stores are picked over, especially the bigger sizes which I still need. They've already got back-to-school stuff out! I'm leery of buying online because I need to try them on. Any suggestions?
