I won't lie I woke up morning of my surgery at 1:30am and had an anxiety attack my wife told me a goofy story to calm me down but I didn't fall back asleep left for hospital at 4:30 got there at 5:20 went into or at 7:20 crying I was so scared but a nurse calmed me down and I was out woke up obviously in and out all day Monday but tues when my wife got to the hospital we were joking about how scared I was... It really is scary but now I'm on day 5 and honestly I'd do it all again if I had to it was totally worth it these docs are good they're professionals and they all do their best to make our recoveries as easy as possible if you had no fear I'd call you a liar but its really not all that bad

Cog I'm feeling so shaky already and I'm only on my first day of a 2 week liquid diet preop. I am nervous. A little unsure. I know I can't lose it and keep it off by myself. I know I'm sick with diabetes and high cholesterol and have felt the effects of that for YEARS and I'm only 31. I had a brain tumor at 15 and swore if it came back, I'd just accept it and not fight it again. That surgery and recovery was unbearable and I can't believe I'm willing to go back into the hospital. I go into this weird panicky state just having blood drawn. I even freaked out a nurse so bad she couldn't even try to take my blood. I also know I just lost my dad in August, I just broke up w my bf/ best friend and I'm unhappy in my job. I know food makes me happy. Sadly it's my biggest and most favorite hobby... that also leaves me feeling bad when I'm beyond full. I hope I'm doing the right thing. With all I've been through this year I hope I can stand being with out my coping mechanism. I know this surgery won't make everything better, but I do hope I'm happier with myself after than I am now.

CRUSHING MEDICATION.

I was told that I could crush my medication and put it in applesauce. That does make sense, but has anyone put it in their Protein Shakes or is that not a good idea?

I'm sure you could put it in anything so long as you get it all. With the shake tho, it will take much longer for you to get the same amount if it was in applesauce

Dr said sailed right thru the surgery. Couldn't walk at first yesterday. I did sit quite a bit til nausea passed then was able to walk with a couple shots for nausea. Today when I'm awake I do have pain. But the pain pump is taking care of much of it. Especially when I remember to push the button. Just sipping when I'm awake. Had a sugar free popsicle. Tasted so good too.

When I was waking up from anesthetic right after the surgery I barely remember, but I told dr I was hungry, lol then I fell asleep. Haven't felt hungry since

You can. Just remember it gets better every day. Look past the surgery into your future, that is why you can do it!!!! The pain and gas is temporary.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
