I Did An Appeal And It Was

Recommended Posts

APPROVED!! I was denied at first because I had 6 months with a nutritionist and not a physician but my doctor urged me to do an appeal with 8 months worth of paperwork with him and it was approved this morning.

Now I'm scared and second guessing myself. Am I doing the right thing?

What is making you second guess yourself? We all were scared and had tons of different emotions. But I can honestly say having surgery was the best thing I ever did !!! I feel fantastic my chloestrol was 220 and is no 157 and my BP was boarder line high and is now 115/78 ... all within 6 months. So the health benefits are great. If I had to do it all over again I would in a second !!! My advise is to follow your surgeons orders and you will not have a problem. Do everything they tell you to do with food, Water, vitimans, Protein etc.

And that is awesome that you appealed and won... :)

I'm second guessing myself because I'm terrified of dying during the surgery. I feel like me having the surgery is being selfish and if something happens I'm leaving behind 4 girls and my husband. My mom died in July from heart disease/ heart attack so I imagine my girls missing me if something goes wrong.

It feels great to express my concern to those who have had the surgery because hearing stories like yours help me feel better.

I umderstand all your fears. And you are going to go through a bunch of different feelings. But you kmow deep down that this is the best gift you can give your children and husband. You are not being selfish. Being selfish would be to continue down the road you are on and maybe have the same problems as your mom. So just take it one day at a time and let the different emotions come and go. Stay busy. Do something fun with your children. And just believe in yourself.

honeydue - what you're going through most of us have gone through. Second doubts, nerves, worry all play a role and you know what........it's totally normal! You chose this journey a while ago for many reasons. Keep those reasons in your mind and heart.

Gastric bypass has been around for years and the surgeons techniques and expertise have increased dramatically. Most of the horror stories are from years ago. I'm not saying it doesn't happen now a days, it does but, far fewer than years ago when RNY was first being done.

During the seminars I've attended.....2006 when I had my lapband..the docs then said a 1-2% risk of serious injury or death.....now in 2012 this seminar they said less than 1%. For me because mine was considered a revision...there was a 1% risk. So those are great odds if you compare it to IF you don't do this. What are the chances your health issues or family history of health issues will be more than a 1% risk? Highly likely right?

If you trust your surgeon...if you like the care you've received and know you will receive after surgery...then sounds like you have a great group to work with. That's more than 1/2 the battle of the surgery. The other half....well you have YOU....your hubby and girls.....and We're here if you need us :)

I am so happy for you. I was just deferred to a higher level, today so we see where I go from here I have many areas that will benfit. I saw professional pictures of my God Sons baptism today and I hate the way I look, I am 252 lbs and I look like I could be a small country. I am scared to death to do the surgery but even more afraid not too. Thank you all for your input reading your responses helps.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
