Ready To Ditch The Chewables

Recommended Posts

At 3 months post op I am so sick of nasty chewable vitamins. I did switch to gummy vitamins but I'm so ready to go back to regular vits and add my hair skin and nail back. Can these get stuck? Has anyone gone back to whole pills? When? And how did it go?

Thanks

I am sure they get tiring eating the Vitamins and they are so freaking huge. That's what got me. I haven't had my surgery yet. But they gave me the bit and cal to start taking and I got some Biotin to start taking now

I was told that when i switched to and could tolerate "normal" foods I could take pills. That was about 2 months for me. I,ve not had any problems yet.

Do you know if we can absorb the regular pills enough?

I do. No problems with absorption at all. Easier on my pouch since I am not dumping all the time.

I could not tolerate whole pills not matter how small right after surgery, I had to grind up everything !!! I am 6 months post op today and I am slowly going back to swollowing whole pills now for about a month. My only advise is to take it slow, start with the smaller whole pills first then work your way up to the larger size pills.

I have no problem with the chewables Vitamins, they are good. My problem is some of my other medications that I'm crushing...gag me.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
