2 sleeps to go. The surgical nurse yesterday said that they squeeze out all the gas they can, and just a little bit thats left bubbles up to the shoulder... is that the gas pain you guys are talking about? or do they not squeeze your gas out over there?

i do remember after a c section awful pain in the shoulder and they said it was from the gas, I don't know if they squeeze any out or not, but to this day and that was about 34 years ago i remember that shoulder pain.

Yes! Take as much time as you need don't rush it. We all heal different. I keep thinking why I still feel like crap and others are back to work. I had complications so I can't compare. We need to take the time to heal and adjust.

The gas pain is unreal. Period...

Surgery was suppose to be tomorrow but just found out they are going to postpone it till December 5th due to me having a very bad cough with chest congestion..kind of bummed but better to go in healthy...ouch I can imagine how much that would hurt to cough so hard..best wishes to all that will be having surgery tomorrow

Jessica, that's probably for the best. Now you can concentrate on curing the cough.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
