I Hate Scales

Recommended Posts

I am 17 days post-op.. I didn't own a scale.. I have no idea about my weight loss... Which is a bit frustrating!! So I broke down and bought one. I don't think the scale fairy wants me to get on it.. It was suppose to come with batteries but it didn't.. So off to get some. Scared to get on it though. Afraid it will show no weight loss...

Try To hold out for your first post open appointment. Most people (myself included) become obssed with the scale and become frustrated when it doesn't move. I've noticed that people who only weigh in at the surgeons office are less stressed.. .I wish I would have done that! Lol

Don't buy batteries!!!!!! I am addicted to it :( and it add pressure and stress AND frustration! I get on just to see and when you stall it ruins your day.

Lol beware!

Get the batteries. Only get on the scale ONCE a week. (its hard, believe me) but it motivates me to see the weight come off. I was always one of those people if I didn't see results I would quit what I was doing to try and make myself healthy. Then I would gain MORE weight. I cheated and got on the scale today (my weigh in day is Wednesday) and I am still steadily losing. 5 1/2 weeks post op.

You can do this! Oh! Your starting weight should be what the Doctor had you weighing at day of surgery or your pre-op.

I use my scale almost daily but, I do it with the knowing that it will fluctuate! I will see gains and losses but, when I see the gain you bet I really watch what I'm doing. It basically keeps me in check. Everyone is different though.

Stay off the scale (1) time a week is all you need.

You will drive your self bug nuts if you use it every day.

I was told not to worry about calories and to concentrate on getting in my Protein and Water. Don't go nuts with the calories but don't worry so much about them this early after surgery there will be lots of time later to worry about calories.

Protein

Water

STAY OFF THE scale

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
