How Long?

Recommended Posts

How long did it take to get approved after everything was submitted to insurance? Everything should be submitted this week and I am just SO anxious! And then, once you were approved, how long did it take to get your surgery date?

It took my insurance 30 min to approve from the time it was submitted and when my surgery coordinator called me with the news she scheduled me then!

I'd also like to know everyone else's experience with this. My last weigh in is December 3rd and then everything will be submitted to insurance. If I hound them and keep caling and asking, will that kinda nudge the insurance company?! LOL! ;)

Spoke with my insurance and the hospital and all should be well. The hospital has someone to take care of reaching out and contacts u if any issue. So unless I'm contacted I should show up on my day of surgery.

one to two weeks if they have everything they requested for approval, sometimes they ask for something else, but at least you know they are looking at your file, and a day or two after approval they call with a surgery date. so you are in the home stretch. I know it is hard. Try to keep busy and read here and learn all you can and be as prepared as possible. Very soon you are going to be on the losers bench.

It took me exactly 2 weeks to get approved from insurance. That was the best phone call.

Mine wasn't as awesome as every one else's. I was actually denied the first time. For 6 months after my denial I had a personal trainer and kept a food diary and sent all that into the insurance company again. They approved me that time. So mine took longer...about 9 months in total and then another 3 months until my actual surgery date.

You know, I'm under the impression that the surgeon and staff WANT to get it done! I think they know how bad you want this. But a subtle hint like parking a tent in the insurance coordinator's office might do the trick. My fingers are crossed!!

Hi all,

I am awaiting my approval now. Everything was submitted on November 30,2012. I am hoping it will go quick. I am hoping to have my surgery before the end of the year because all of my deductibles have been met. I have my fingers crossed that this is going to be quick. I hate waiting. :(

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
