I Think My Pouch Is Broken:(

Recommended Posts

I don't ever feel full. I am almost 2 weeks out and I can drink all the Water I want and not feel full or any pain. I also tried chicken and nothing. Then yesterday I had an empanada an 2 slices o pizza - nothing no dumping no full.

The only thing I noticed was when I stood up I had a sharp pain in my chest area below my breasts. Any ideas guys. I already talked to my dr and the nurse said I am ok to eat anything. ?!?!? Help

I had moments like that around 2 to 3 wks out. I didn't as much as you did though. I would make myself stop eating even if I felt like I wasn't full. Be careful. You're pouch is healing. It will eventually catch up. TRUST ME. LOL. I thought something was wrong, too.

Thanks I just feel like I'm going nuts. I wanted the cues from my pouch, dumping if I am naughty and vomiting if I over did it. Now I just guess and that's hard to gauge

I have never dumped or vomited. I just stopped to prevent doing so.

I have never dumped, either. I can tolerate most foods. I never feel full, but I stop after what I consider an adequate portion.

At two weeks out, might be better to measure than guess. Digital food scales are inexpensive and easy to use for measuring portions. The one I have measures grams and ounces and I think was about $25 on Amazon. I also bought a 5oz measuring glass that makes liquid measurements a snap. Well worth the money. Portion Control was definitely what led to my problem in the first place. If you're not measuring, the experts say it's almost a certainty that you're eating more than you think. The good news is that after you measure for a couple months, you get pretty good at estimating portions.

Your pouch isn't broken, it's just healing. Lots of nerves that are healing from your surgery. Your stomach/pouch has stretch sensors that send signals to the brain when you're full. Not uncommon for it to take a while for those to come back into play following a bypass. You're gonna love the new you!!

I feel the same way and I'm 5 weeks out today. Im hoping that the nerves start working and I can feel my full signals. Good luck to you. I can't eat as much as you described but feel I'm eating too much.

I just dumped. My pouch is alive and well lol not happy. I had 1/2 cup ice cream and at first all was beautiful in the world then holy moly f@&$!n sh!t talk about icky feeling. Whow never ever EVER gonna eat I've cream again.

Think of the worst stomach flu mixed with irritable symptoms mixed with can't puke but need to all into one. I had to lay on my side cover my eyes with pressure and rock for maybe 30 mins.

Guess I spoke to soon pouch works and I'm a believer no more testing it.

Make sure your cutting your food into small pieces and make sure your waiting 30 mins before and after you eat cause if you don't it just flushes the food out your stomach

Just curious, I thought 2 weeks out you should still be on a soft diet, I think I would be scared to try any of those things yet.

Hope you feel better after your dumping.

Oh no! I did the ice cream thing too. I had about 1/8 of a cup and that was all it took.

Just listen to your body & try the portion controls. I am able to eat almost anything too, but I need to remind myself that eating bad got me to this place to begin with. I concentrate on my Protein first then fruits & veg.

My nurse said I could eat anything. But I'm going to back to liquids.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
