Well I had my first visit with everyone. Took my daughter with me cause I thought she was going to be my support system but when the doctor talked about all that can happen she decided it was not worth the risk. She said if I can lose weight in the three months then why don't I continue that. It is hard to explain that I am already at risk for

Many things. I am sorry I took her. Any suggestion or advice

Every surgery has risks and loved ones often get concerned when they hear that. It might help your daughter if she understands the benefits and risks beyond what a doctor can explain in a short meeting. And it might help you be more comfortable as well. Here are some great online resources to get you started. There are many more. The bottom line for me was that the odds were overwhelmingly in favor of my surgery being successful. I would do it again in a second. You're gonna love the new you!!

Only you can know what's best for you and your health. When I asked my dad (who os also morbidly obese) why he didn't consider getting the surgery too since it's obviously covered under our insurance he said "because I know if I get my fat ass on a treadmill that i'll lose the weight instead of taking the pussy way out"

So yeah. Family aren't always the best support system. But look who's a lot healthier and happier now versus my dad who still morbidly obese, a smoker, has high blood pressure and is borderline diabetic.

My dad used to be morbidly obese and lost the weight without surgery. Just 3 hours after my surgery he says to me "I didn't need surgery to lose weight. What's wrong with you?" Needless to say him and I don't get along. Never really did. I knew I needed the surgery and no one was changing my mind. Do what you know is right for you.

In the end it really is your decision and only YOU can answer the question as to whether you can do this following the rules given to you by your bariatric surgeon and nutritionist regarding eating, amounts to eat and exercise etc that needs to be done. You know how often you tried before to lose weight and how successful you were etc.

Definitely read and do research for yourself. DLC provided a lot of good links and I'll also recommend the Weightloss Surgery for Dummies book. It was a great reference and compared surgeries available. Explains well what needs to happen etc.

Good luck with your decision :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
