K, I was told by the dr to wait for 2 weeks to remove my dressings. Today is 2 weeks and I'm scared to death to take them off. I did one but left the tape on it. I feel safe with them on. I know they have to air out. Any suggestions??? Will they open while I'm asleep???

I took mine off 3 days after surgery (my mom) and it didn't hurt too bad. Now I have steri-strips and clean over them with peroxide ! I refuse to wear anything tight ! Lol I WANT THEM TO BREATHE !

My doctor took my dressing off after a week, however I still wear my band for the support. It helps a lot.

They usually tell you to let steri strips (tape) fall off on their own. Like Americas_suiteheart said, just clean around them.

Ok. I took them off. The steri strips came off right along with them. Everything looks nice and sealed, which was my fear, lol. Thanks for the responses!!! Phew...glad that's over with!

I want to take mines off but I will wait to see the surgeon. My tummy itches so bad though.

My Doc did staples, they had regular band-aids on it. I called the office and they said it was ok to shower and take off the band-aids.

Mines did not use staples but have to change dressing everyday but they look good after 10 days.

I had steri strips. They fell off on their own. I was told to wash mine with antibacterial soap and Water normally. I had no issues with mine.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
