Sorry hit the wrong button :/. As I was saying, I am having a range of emotions right now. From very excited to super scared. I have wanted to have wls for years. I am from South Carolina and had heard of various people who did it. However it was always in a negative way. So I never told anyone that I wanted it. In the past couple years I have found my inner strength to not care what others think if its going to improve my health and life. What I am fearful about is that I have 5 children. My oldest is 18 but is away in school. My oldest at home is almost 14 and my youngest is 13 months. I worry about how this will affect them. Any way I will stop babbling. I am glad that I found this forum and hope to be part of a great support system.

Well all I have to say is I'm glad you've found the strength to get past what people have said or will say. I am scared and embarrassed that I need to do this but I'm just as embarrassed and ashamed about my weight and what people are saying about me currently. I've been very open with people about this and have found very positive feedback so far. I too have three children, from the ages of 16 ( not helpful at all) 9 and 2 years old. I don't know if my husband thinks this is as serious as it is but I'm having him go to my information/learning appointment once I'm approved. I just want him to know how much this really entails and how much help I will need afterwards. I might even stay at my moms the first few days just so my two yr old isn't jumping on me. My biggest fear is my family not changing their diets at all and I'll have to go at this alone because right now I'm dieting to get my approval. I need to lose 17 lbs and show that I've been working at it and I'm all alone. While I'm on a high Protein low carb diet my family is eating pizza and drinking their pop. I think when it concerns your children in other aspects of this surgery, it will be a positive one because you'll be healthy and able to do things you've never been able to do with them. That's how I see it anyways. Glad you are here. A lot of us use myfitnesspal.com to track our calories and exercise its also an app for your phone my username is amcdowell779. It's very helpful and everyone is very supportive on there as well.

I'm doin good here too! Just had my 2nd dietician appt, and I've already lost 13 lbs just from cutting out soda and caffeine. Because of my insurance, I had to do some psych interview before I could even take my test, which even the psychiatrist thought was retarded. But right now, the dietician said we are on track for a may surgery date right now, which works great cause my wife is pregnant with our 3rd kid, a girl, an is due in march.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
