I am still very stiff and feel like rubber bands around the incisions. I am walking around the house alot and am trying to ease off the pain med I was sent home with.

I still sleep on my back. I have found i easier to use a heating pad 20 minutes on 30 minutes off at night with a cover over the abdomen of course as to not burn the incision sites..

I am just concerend. I see everyones post about walking around and feeling great... I am a bit discouraged thinking is it me? Should I be toughing it out and walking alot more....

If at all I'd say get out of the house and walk to the corner. Then around the block. A little further each day. Fresh air will do u good. Plus I was told no heating pads...but each bariatric group is different. Swelling is actually a way of your body healing itself naturally

Three days post-op. Surgery was Wednesday Morning. I suppose I am over zealous and that everyone heals at different paces. Just curious is all knowing that some people post how they are walking around almost pain free days after and I still feel pain.

The heating pad was allowed by my bariatric group. The only concerns was making sure incisions are covered to prevent burns to the sites.

I read somewhere that someone placed muscle rub cream on their back to help with discomfort. I would be against that as it absorbs into the skin and can possibly affect the incisions.

Everyone is different. I was very sore fir the first week. The second week was better but I still had a hard time bending, getting out of bed and sitting/standing from a chair. You may not feel like it but walking really is your best friend. I agree that getting out in the fresh air and sunshine will make you feel better. It did wonders for me.

Three days out you're still in the infancy stage of the healing process. Take it slow if you feel like you have to. You can stroll down the street and when you feel like you've had enough, go home. Don't push yourself too hard.

It's ok to take your pain meds to control your pain don't feel like a failure if you take them. That's why they were prescribed to you.

Concentrate on getting you're liquids in and moving around as much as you can.

You can do this! ( if I can, anyone can) :-)

I was told no heating pads. I was made to walk the next day after surgery. You may want to try walking in place at home. Things will get better but try to walk inside as much as possible. I timed myself 10 mins and increase it every hour by 5 mins. It sounds crazy but even 30 mins a day help your back and gas pains

I think the hardest thing for me was sleeping at night. I sleep on my stomach and for the first week could not do that due to the discomfort. I actually slept in my recliner. As far as walking, my doctor had me up walking 6 hours after surgery and then every two jours after that to prevent blood clots. Everyone heals at different rates. Don't get discouraged...every day will get easier!

I am still very sore around my abdomen. I find when I walk though it helps the stiffness and pain. I still take my pain medicine at bedtime and usually once during the day. This helps me to get up and get in the walking which in turn has helped me tremendously. But if it hurts, don't do it!! It's not a race!!

My left side and back hurt when i sit certain ways and when i get up it kills me. If i walk or stand up its not as bad. I hope it is just my muscles and nerves coming back together. How long does it take?

I'm 6 days out and still use the pain meds. The gurgling and gas pains have gotten a little better- but the incisions are still tight and sore. Bending down is bad.. It's hard with a 2 year old!! :)

Tammy I too am a stomach sleeper and it was hard to not sleep on my stomach so I also slept in our recliner for the 1st week after that I slept in my bed on my side but would wake up on my stomach!

After surgery I was in a lot of pain, I couldn't sleep in my bed for the first 3-4 weeks (could only bare the couch) because my back was killing me and whenever I tried to sleep on my side, it felt as though all my intestines were detached, and felt like rocks just swooshing side to side as I moved to find a comfortable position. It was an awful/weird/painful feeling but it did get better. You just had major surgery, everyone handles it differently but you do have to allow yourself that time to recover. It stinks, but before you know it, you will be feeling great too!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
