Well about a week and a half ago I went to the Dr and weighed 389 so he told me he wanted to loose at least another 10 lbs before my surgery tomorrow. Needless to say I almost gave the man a heart attack and weighed in today at 371 :biggrin1: . He was in shock that I lost 18 pounds so fast.

I guess wish me luck ! Tomorrow is a go for me and I enter band land officially. I am all kinds of emotional. Excited as hell but yet scared at the same time. I guess that is normal. Isn't it? Going out for the last super tonight. Fajitas baby ! LOL :hungry:

When you do your walking, bike, treadmill, elliptical, etc. use a heartrate monitor. Keep your heartrate between 65-85% of maximum. Take 200 minus your age to get max heartrate. You won't over exert yourself and get all the soreness and the fatique that people get when they over do it. You are more likely to keep doing your cardio exercise when you use a monitor. It also acts as a coach to let you know when to step up the pace or slow down.

After a couple of weeks you will notice your resting HR will go down and more effort is required to keep up your HR. These are all signs your getting into better shape. The internet is full of info on using them to get the most from your exercise time.

Banded today at 7:30 am- everything went quite well. My hiatal hernia turned out to be the size of a baseball - Doc said more than half my stomach was in my chest! That was repaired with a stitches and a tissue graft to close the hole.

I felt really great after the surgery with no pain meds from 1:30 until 8pm. I'm having some discomfort in my shoulder now due to gas -so says the pretty nurse. I've been amazed how easy the whole day as been- I expected much more pain or discomfort. It's mostly just felt like you do in the morning if you've overworked a bit.

So far so good.

Hello all,

I was banded 11/07/06 in Mexico by Dr Joya $8,000. us. Best thing i've ever done for myself. I was 315 before surgery currently 234 now and no regrets at all. I have an inamed 10cc band with currently 8.3cc. I have been very aggressive with my fills and it seems to work for me. Look forward to hearing from others. If anyone has a question please ask away i will answer anything that i can. Todd

Well, here we are, One year post op. I have enjoyed and been inspired by all my friends here and other boards. What can i say other than I love my band. It has been one of the best years of my life. I feel like I have my life back smile.gif Let me post some before and after stats:

Before/After

334/175-180(at goal and maintaining)

56 inch waist/34 inch waist (pant size)

54% body fat/19% body fat

XXXL/Med to Large (shirt size)

borderline diabetic with high blood pressure/low-normal range for both

I have gotten my life back because of the Band. I can do anything I want to now and not have to worry about if I am too heavy or large to participate. I have lost weight before, but never reached my goal and never kept it off. I have been at goal for 3 months now and have maintained. Thanks to you all for sharing this journey with me.

Hello Everyone.

Tomorrow is my 90 day mark. I have lost 85lbs as of last Saturday. I have went from a 58-60 pant to a 46-48. I cant believe how easy this has been so far. I have not yet had a fill. I can eat more than when I first had the surgery but I just dont. I make sure I eat normal portions and eat healthy foods. Im not saying that I dont have that occasional slice of pizza, hamburger, or pasta.(with the band I can only do 1 slice of pizza or half a burger anyway) I just don't do it everyday. I do believe that the decision to have the band has been the best I have ever made. I have to tell you that Neal's website has been a great motivational tool.

Joe

How do you guys do it - i'm waiting for approval to be banded but my dr keeps telling me that i will not lose more than 1-2 lbs a week. Redstrat you have lost an incredible 7lbs a week!!!!! Congratulations. I was under the impression that with purly restrictive surgeries like the lapband the weight will come off slower. Keep up the great work

CAN"T WAIT TILL I BECOME BANDED:clap2:

Losing 1 - 2 lbs a week is very normal. There is maybe 1 out of 20 that have the kind of success that makes your eyes pop out. The 1 to 2 pound weight loss is over a long period of time - an average. So if you lose alot of weight up front and then hit a plateau, do not get discouraged. You have to look at this thing "long term". Losing a pound a day is not normal and depending on the person it might not be that healthy. The more effort you put into it the more you are going to lose.

Look at it like this... if you rely on the restriction alone then you had better get to that point as soon as possible or you will gain weight back. And even if you just rely on restriction and do not do anything extra the weight will come off much slower than someone who starts to eat healthier foods and goes to the gym. It is all up to you and what you are willing to do. Most people make small changes in their life when they get the band so the weight comes off slower. These smaller changes are also known to be the ones that stick.

So get your fills and get to that level of restriction you feel comfortable with, take your time and do not rush yourself, and try to enjoy your new life. It can only get better from here on out.

LOL! I think it is closer to 1 inch for every 25 - 30 pounds, at least in the initial stages. My wife says she can agree with that so far :biggrin1: LOL.

Wow! An inch for every 10 pounds lost? You'd have a stable full of potential porn stars here! John Holmes would be a nobody in comparison LOL.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
